Result of ServiceData compilation and verification with modelling advisory group; final cooling GHG emissions mitigation pathways scenarios developed and described at various time-intervals (counterfactual, BAU until 2030 and 2040); a deeper dive into passive cooling scenarios, including highlighting data details on the impact of increased access to passive and other sustainable cooling solutions; annexure of the various modelling pathways prepared; analysis and text from modelling updated in the chapters and key messages post review. The consultant will support a peer review of modelling chapter, respond to the peer review comments, and make suggestions on how to address/ integrate for finalization by the lead author of the Report. Work LocationRemote Expected duration7 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesUNEP is accelerating the global transition to energy-efficient and climate-friendly cooling. Getting the right solutions in place for cooling is essential for improving the quality of life and health of people without undue impacts on the planet. The UNEP-led Cool Coalition is a global multi-stakeholder network that connects a wide range of key actors from government, cities, international organizations, businesses, finance, academia, and civil society groups to facilitate knowledge exchange, advocacy and joint action towards a rapid global transition to efficient and climate-friendly cooling. As per the Cool Coalition 2022-2023 workplan and strategy, members agreed to develop Global Cooling Stocktake Report (\"the Report”). This report was then elevated to a UNEP Spotlight Report status. Following the release and launch of the Global Cooling Watch Report, renamed from the Global Cooling Stocktake Report, it was decided to convert this into a biennial report series. The next report is due later in Q4 of 2025, ahead of COP30 in Brazil. A senior consultant is needed to support the UNEP as host of Cool Coalition as a contributing author to finalize the Report modelling chapter and its annexures by performing tasks of country and global level GHG emission modelling analysis and detailed description, scenario development and finalization, data analysis verification, updating of chapter text, and drafting of recommendations to ensure a smooth development process for this ambitious report. This consultant will also be required to support the delivery of an Annual Global Cooling Pledge Progress Report for 2025, planned to be released at COP30 (November 2025). As the Secretariat of the Global Cooling Pledge, the Cool Coalition, will require this consultant to do a separate estimation of the modelling noted above in particular for the Pledge signatory countries, including development of data collection measures, data analysis verification, and contributing to the authorship of the Annual Pledge Progress Report 2025. The consultant will also support in finalizing the 2024 Annual Pledge Progress Report, which requires a final verification of data and analysis based on country responses and feedback.
