Terms of ReferenceThe Communications Assistant (LICA 4) is part of the External Relations Unit and reports to the Communications Associate.

In terms of essential experience required for the position, the desired candidate must have graphic design experience, including great command of Adobe package and video editing software. He/she should have previous experience in: Communication and/or awareness-raising campaigns and events including support and coordination, production of videos and social media content, and excellent writing skills and fluency in Spanish and English.

Additional desired experience includes:

• Experience in social media campaigns and writing materials for digital channels and external audiences (e.g., web stories, press releases)
• Experience working with or for international humanitarian organizations.
• Experience working in refugee/forced displacement settings.
• Reporting experience (internal and external documents) would be an asset.

Furthermore, it is expected that the desired candidate has excellent interpersonal skills, strong coordination, organization, and communication qualities, as well as the ability to work both independently and in teams.

Please note that this position will be located at Lima, Peru on presential modality and is offered under a six-month Local Individual Contractor Agreement (LICA / UNOPS). Extension is subject to operational needs, budget, and performance.

Communications Assistant
Organizational Setting and Work Relationships

The Communications Assistant will report to the Communications Officer and will have regular contacts within the office/unit involving exchange of information. S/he will also have limited external contacts on routine matters.

All UNHCR staff members are accountable to perform their duties as reflected in their job description. Duties
- Collect press-cuttings of articles in national, regional, international and periodicals that pertain to refugee related issues and to the work of the office.
- Compile and maintain the mailing list for press releases, information bulletins, etc and ensure timely despatch of information to media and other interested parties.
- Classify and maintain adequate stock of PI materials and promote sale of merchandise where appropriate.
- Maintain up-to-date the catalogue of PI material and types monthly report regarding sales and stocks for submission to PI at Headquarters in accordance with established guidelines.
- Provide clerical assistance with regard to PI events such as poster campaigns, exhibitions, and public awareness raising events.
- Respond to routine telephone and written enquiries from a variety of sources such as the media, the public, NGOs and government officials etc.
- Maintain PI files up-to-date.
- Have access to UNHCR's communication systems.

- Support the identification and management of risks and seek to seize opportunities impacting objectives in the area of responsibility. Ensure decision making in risk based in the functional area of work. Raise risks, issues and concerns to a supervisor or to relevant functional colleague(s).
- Perform other related duties as required.
