Position Objective
The Department of IT (DIT) requires a Strategic Cloud Solutions Specialist to support the organization's cloud transformation initiative, providing enterprise-wide architectural direction and technology leadership. This role will oversee, manage implementation, and assist cloud infrastructure solutions that directly enable GCF's new strategic business objectives.
Reporting to the ICT Infrastructure & Management Services Specialist, this role serves as the technical expert on cloud technologies, supporting governance frameworks that drive innovation while ensuring security, compliance, and operational excellence. The position provides critical strategic input to senior management on emerging cloud technologies and their potential business impact, while autonomously making complex technical decisions that shape the organization's digital future.
Purpose
Engagement
Collaborate Cross-Functional Cloud/Security Initiatives: Facilitate collaboration among multiple teams to establish foundational cloud architecture standards and security standards. identify organizational capabilities and define basic engineering principles that support efficiency and agility across deployment models.
Technical Collaboration and Mentorship: Advise IT staff on cloud infrastructure and security best practices, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing throughout the organization. Participate in the Architecture Review Board to ensure compliance and security requirement of network and Azure architecture for GCF.
Develop Identity Architecture Standards: Develop and execute adoption of, and advocacy strategic identity management solutions using Microsoft Entra ID, influencing stakeholders to support authoritative frameworks that balance security requirements and user experience across hybrid environments.
Promote Cloud-Native Transformation: Manage the organization's cloud-native transformation agenda, guiding leadership stakeholders through technological changes, advocating for architectural modernization, and driving cultural change that maximizes business value and competitive advantage.
Delivery
DevOps & Deployment Strategy: Manage the organization's infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and DevOps vision, selecting strategic automation platforms, defining governance frameworks, and mandating standards that fundamentally transform software delivery capabilities, improve consistency, reduce deployment risks, and accelerate time-to-value.
Optimize Financial Performance: Maintain delivery of strategic capacity planning and architectural design for enterprise workloads. Support resource allocation optimization to manage costs, enhance application performance, and ensure infrastructure scalability . Help implement basic financial governance frameworks to monitor and control cloud spending, ensuring alignment with the budget
Support Enterprise Automation Framework: Assist in architecting and leading automation and orchestration strategies leveraging various programming languages, cloud-native tools and other advanced technologies, defining self-service interfaces, governance controls, and operational workflows that consistently meets IT service delivery.
Enhance M365 Operational Excellence: Oversee efficacy of operational processes for Microsoft 365 services by implementing basic resource management strategies, compliance controls, and service-level standards.Ensure reliable, secure, and optimized collaboration and productivity solutions leveraging Microsoft Entra ID identity governance, and related tools.
Adapt Identity Management Lifecycle: Establish policies related to adaptive processes for the deployment, integration, and ongoing management of identity and access management solutions, defining resource requirements, lifecycle governance controls, and operational workflows to deliver secure identity services across organizational systems.
Enhance Security Operations Procedures: Setup and implement cybersecurity operations and incident response procedures, establishing operational workflows, governance frameworks, and proactive monitoring strategies using advanced cybersecurity technologies (Defender XDR, SIEM, SOAR) to substantially enhance the organization’s security posture and responsiveness.
Manage Backend Knowledge management: Oversee the development of comprehensive organization-wide technical documentation by backend team, implementation guides, system and procedure and operational runbooks that institutionalize best practices and support knowledge transfer.
Cloud Compliance and Security Excellence: Plan, organize and develop cloud solutions aligned with regulatory requirements and cybersecurity best practices. Help integrate technical controls and governance frameworks to maintain compliance standards without compromising innovation or agility.
Monitoring of Enterprise Cloud Services: Architect comprehensive cloud performance monitoring frameworks leveraging Azure Monitor and Catchpoint, establishing proactive response mechanisms, performance baselines, and continuous optimization strategies that ensure the reliability, responsiveness, and efficiency of critical business systems.
