Organisational Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the General Support Section (GSS), Division for Management (DM), United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV). The General Support Section comprises the areas of procurement, funds management, travel and transportation, property management, archives and records, building services, garage administration, and mail operations. The Chief of Section reports to the Director of the Division for Management (DM).

Education
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, management, commerce, engineering or related area is required. A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible professional experience in general services, buildings management, procurement, contract management or related area is required.
Several years of experience in supervising a number of teams with covering multiple areas of responsibilities are desirable.
Experience in an international organization managing complex, multi-million dollar budgets is desirable.
Experience in organizational resilience management is desirable.
Experience in UN inter-agency collaboration is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage. Knowledge of German is desirable.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise and a competency-based interview.

This is a regular budget post. Filling of this position is subject to funding availability and the initial appointment will be for a period of one year. Extension of the appointment is subject to extension of the mandate and/or the availability of funds.
