icddr,b invites applications from experienced professionals for a short-term consultancy to provide hands-on training in Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenStack for its IT Division.
Assignment / Activity
The consultant will design and deliver a 7-week structured training program aimed at strengthening icddr,b’s capacity in containerized and cloud-native infrastructures. The program will focus on real-world applications — including high-performance computing (HPC), bioinformatics, and genome sequencing — to ensure that System Administrators gain practical skills in building, managing, and troubleshooting scalable infrastructures.
Scope of Work
Conduct a pre-training requirement analysis with icddr,b IT leadership. Deliver hands-on, module-based training covering: Docker infrastructure and ecosystem Kubernetes cluster setup, operations, and scaling OpenStack deployment and management Integration of Kubernetes with OpenStack Advanced troubleshooting across all three platforms Ensure content alignment with icddr,b’s HPC and bioinformatics projects. Provide training materials, weekly progress reports, and a final completion report.Expected Deliverables
Training materials (slides, labs, scripts, documentation). Weekly progress updates to icddr,b IT management. Final training report and evaluation. Completion of final project (multi-tier containerized application on Kubernetes + OpenStack).Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field; Candidate’s having Master’s with relevant subject/study area with get preference. At least 5 year’s experience in relevant field. Extensive hands-on expertise in Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenStack, with proven track record of delivering real-world infrastructure projects. Demonstrated experience in designing, deploying, and troubleshooting containerized and cloud-native environments end-to-end. Successful completion of hands-on projects in production-grade environments (e.g., cluster deployments, workload orchestration, cloud infrastructure management). Professional certifications in Docker, Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD/CKS), and OpenStack or equivalent industry-recognized credentials will be considered a strong advantage. Prior experience in training IT professionals, with ability to deliver interactive, hands-on learning sessions. Preferably prior experience in high-performance computing (HPC), bioinformatics, or genome sequencing environments. Strong communication, mentoring, and facilitation skills to ensure knowledge transfer.Location: icddr,b IT premises, Mohakhali, Dhaka.
