Job Description

Come join 54 reasons! We exist to champion all children in Australia and lift their voices up. We’ve got an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced writer to join our small but mighty team.

54 reasons is Australia’s leading child rights organisation – no ordinary not-for-profit.

Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we’re here to make sure that everyone understands their rights. So that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.

With the child’s voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers, advocating with them so that children develop, learn, and are connected, safe and confident. Our people are proudly local, reflective of the communities we serve - in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities.

Where you come in:

In this full-time / part-time (0.8FTE min) permanent role, you’ll help us sustain and grow our impact with and for children in Australia whose rights are not being met, in line with our three-year strategy objectives. Based in any Australian capital city (or otherwise by negotiation), you’ll be a critical part of our national business development unit, reporting to our Deputy CEO and Head of Strategy and Partnerships.

You will make an impact by:

· Planning, coordinating and writing high value government tenders, in collaboration with operational leaders, technical specialists, and support teams like finance and HR

· Leading internal reviews and approvals to ensure bids are clear and meet all requirements

· Scanning, advising and leading capture planning on new business opportunities

· Supporting operational directors in their relationships with government and service partners, where relevant to identified new business priorities

· Contributing to continuous improvement in our business development approach

Does this sound like you?

You’re an outstanding communicator, with runs on the board in creating winning tenders and proposals in the children and family sector, and a gift for distilling complex technical information into concise, compelling messages that cut through and inspire your audience. You’re a results-focused self-starter, thrive on a challenge, and energised by the impact you can make. Even better if you are confident and experienced in presenting to government and partners, alongside senior leaders and subject matter experts.

This role requires:

· Exceptional writing and presentation skills

· Track record in business development, ideally in the Australian children and family services sector or similar

· Demonstrated organisational skills and collaborative approach to working across multi-disciplinary and remote teams

· An openness to learning and continuous improvement
