Private Sector Partnership Service (PSP) sits in UNHCR's Division of External Relations and is responsible for raising resources for the organization from two sources: Individual Giving (general public) and Leadership Giving (corporations, foundations and High Net Worth Individuals).
With an ever-growing funding gap for the different refugee relief operations, UNHCR is aiming to raise a USD 1 billion/year by 2025 from the private sector globally including the MENA region with an identified significant potential for growth.
In support of the Private Partnership and Philanthropy (PPH) Programme in MENA, Private Sector Partnership Service (PSP) needs to hire an Associate PSP Officer, He/She will support implementation of the PSP Programme with a particular focus on Corporates in the UAE based on the PSP Global Strategy. He/she will be responsible for new business development, maintaining and managing a prospect pipeline and account cultivation and management for UAE Corporates mainly and as a primary function, as well as support on foundations and high net worth individuals.
The Associate PSP Officer will play a key role in testing new fundraising strategies as it pertains to Corporates in the UAE for new and untapped potential relationships.
He/She will be part of the PSP global team and is expected to work closely with the entire PSP network. Under the guidance of the supervisor, the Associate PSP Officer will also manage relations with partners, media, contractors and suppliers for PSP Programme. He/she will be asked to provide support and guidance for other PPH activities in the UAE.
Working closely with the PSP Officer, the Associate PSP Officer will perform the following duties:
· Manage Corporates screening of any new partners wanting to enter into a relationship with UNHCR.
· Mapping of Corporates in the UAE and preparing a long-term strategy of cultivation for resource mobilization.
· Develop, implement and report on PSP activities in the UAE.
· Support in managing PSP resources under UAE.
· Provide expertise on Corporates in the UAE and inputs for the Regional Strategic Plan.
· Develop and maintain close relations with identified Corporates in MENA.
· Manage accounts for Corporates in UAE.
· Maintain and manage a full prospect pipeline, including commissioning or performing prospect research as necessary and moving prospects along the donor development cycle.
· Communicate accurate and timely information on UNHCR's programs and activities, in conformity with the organization’s financial needs and priorities, to prospective and current donors.
· Draft compelling proposals for submission
· Ensure timely and accurate reporting on implementation of funded projects, by obtaining and compiling information from relevant services within UNHCR (HQ PSP, desks, and field offices).
· Organize and accompany donor missions to HQ or the field as required.
· In co-operation with the other members of External Relations Section, develop and support activities within the framework of PSP projects with partners that will promote refugees and of UNHCR's public awareness in UAE/MENA.
· Assist the global PSP team in the adaptation, testing and/or development of activities and tools that support private sector fund raising efforts in the UAE, including digital advertisements and direct response television.
· Develop initiatives with Corporates to obtain financial support for projects
· Ensure that the proper reporting framework is in place to measure and monitor progress.
· Liaise with the PSP Officer in the UAE on any fundraising opportunity that could be undertaken by the regional office and other offices in MENA in its fundraising sub portfolios.
· Perform any other tasks as required.
Essential minimum qualifications and professional experience required
University degree in Political or Social Sciences, Business, Marketing, International Relations, Journalism or other related fields.
· Minimum 3 years relevant experience with Undergraduate degree; or 2 years relevant experience with Graduate degree; or 1-year relevant experience with Doctorate degree.
· Highly developed drafting ability in working language of duty station.
· Excellent writing skills in English and Arabic.
· Good knowledge of UNHCR mandatory responsibilities and its humanitarian operations.
· Excellent analytical and conceptual skills and strong communication and presentation skills (both verbal and written).
· Excellent computer skills with particular reference to analysis of Focus, fundraising related data, as well as excellent knowledge of word, excel and PowerPoint.
· A well-developed understanding of strategic implications of fundraising metrics and data.
· A team player and be driven by numbers and success
· Excellent knowledge in Arabic and English language
