Purpose of Activity:

The Regional Office for South Asia (ROSA) assists the Country Offices in the region in the design, implementation, and evaluation of their programmes. Regarding data management and visualization, ROSA aims to support the countries in improving their data collection and analysis strategies. One area where ROSA wants to innovate is the use of generative AI and machine learning techniques to automate and standardize the analysis of qualitative reports emerging from UNICEF field operations as well as the monitoring of enumerators for the implementation of large surveys and the use of administrative records and surveys to create social policy sandboxes.

How can you make a difference? 

Scope of Work:

Support countries with the creation of social policy sandboxes.

The scope of this job is to support the automation and standardization of two analytical processes:

Supports the creation of a text analysis process using AZURE AI Platform to support the analysis and visualizations of reports emerging from the field-based work of UNICEF. Supports the creation of a dashboard that uses machine learning techniques to monitor enumerators during the implementation of large surveys in the region.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have… 

Educational qualifications:

Bachelors degree in statistics, computer sciences, software engineering or similar.

Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required :

Verifiable experience in developing of dashboards in PowerBi  or  R Shinny. At least 3 years of working experience coding regular reports in R and/or Python. At least 1 years of working experience using Azure platform, in particular Azure AI, Azure Document Intelligence, Azure Functions App, Azure Cloud storage, and Azure Logic app (this can be replaced by Azure certifications and an example of Portfolio work in Azure). Experience with other cloud platforms like AWS is an asset. Evidence of previous experience using AI tools to analyze text.

Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws. 

The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
