About this position

The Financial Instruments Accounting Group (ACC/FIA) within the Accounting Division is looking for an energetic and team-oriented professional to work in the areas of financial reporting and accounting for loans, guarantees, and capital markets (i.e., borrowings, investments, derivatives).

ACC/FIA monitors, controls, and reports the accounting activities for loans, grants, borrowings, investments, and derivative instruments, ensuring compliance with established accounting policies and procedures.

What you’ll do:

  • Provide support with the different activities for the Loan Financial System, LIBOR transition, and Capital Projects.
  • Perform and verify reconciliations of subsidiary ledgers to ensure the accuracy and integrity of balances and transactions, and their proper interface with the general ledger.
  • Ensure all transactions conform to Bank policies and procedures and that they are properly registered.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and other financial reports for internal and external use.
  • Prepare draft annual financial statements according to US GAAP.
  • Identify deviation from US GAAP and/or Bank policies and procedures and recommend corrective action.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of performed work for auditor's review.
  • Perform other duties as requested related to trust funds

    What you'll need

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA or national public accounting in one of the member countries. Master’s degree preferred.
    • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience in public accounting (preferably Big Four accounting firms), International Organizations or Financial Institutions. Experience in financial reporting, establishing, and evaluating internal controls, supporting external auditors and reporting under U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S. GAAP). Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large data sets
    • Languages: Spanish and English

        Requirements:

        • Citizenship:. You must be a citizen of one of our 48-member countries, and a citizen or permanent resident of a country where the IDB has a Country Office
        • Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
        • Remote Modality: The selected candidate will not provide services from the Bank’s office and will not be provided a physical space on the premises of the Bank’s Country Office. The candidate selected will be responsible for setting up the space, and for having the equipment, internet, and phone accesses to accomplish these TORs, outside the Bank’s office. Access to the Bank’s systems will be arranged in coordination with the Bank.
