a.       Purpose

The purpose of this Terms of Reference (TOR) is to recruit a qualified candidate to provide reliable and safe driving services.

b.      Objective

To provides reliable and safe driving services ensuring high accuracy of work. The Driver demonstrates a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.

c.       Background Information

Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Travel/Admin Officer, the Driver will provide reliable and safe driving services ensuring high quality and accuracy of work. Driver will work in close collaboration with other Operations units, staff, with Programme, and projects personnel in the Country Office (CO) with the purpose to provide consistent and efficient service delivery and promotes a client, quality and results-oriented approach.

 

Measurable outputs of the work assignment

The Driver will be responsible for the following tasks:

  • Ensures provision of reliable and secure driving services by a) driving office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items and b) meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, handling visa and customs formalities and arrangement, when required;
  • Ensures accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports;
  • Ensures proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, and report to the office driver need for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes, car washing, etc.;
  • Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts;
  • Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.

Performance indicators and means of verification for evaluation of results

  • Compliance with UNDP rules, regulations and policies ensured;
  • Respecting deadlines and quality criteria;
  • Safe and timely logistical and transport services provided to requesting unit in UNDP and other UN Agencies, as requested;
  • Functioning vehicle with clean interior and exterior;
  • Existence of well organised, flawless transportation reports;
  • Client-satisfaction.

 

  • Displays cultural, gender, religion, race, nationality and age sensitivity and adaptability;
  • Shares knowledge and experience;
  • Provides helpful feedback and advice to others in the office;
  • Demonstrates excellent knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair;
  • Demonstrates excellent knowledge of protocol;
  • Demonstrates excellent knowledge of security issues;
  • Focuses on result for the client;
  • Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude;
  • Remains calm, in control and good humored even under pressure;
  • Responds positively to critical feedback and differing points of view;
  • Demonstrates strong oral and written communication skills;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Education:

  • Secondary Education;
  • Valid Driver’s license and flawless driving track record.

Work experience:

  • At least 3 years of work experience as a driver with excellent car driving skills and clean driver’s record; Competence in driving 4x4 vehicles; safe driving record; knowledge of driving rules and regulations and skills in minor vehicle repair; ability to proactively plan and realistically calculate transport routes/times in changing conditions;
  • Skills in using appropriate software packages (word processing, excel, internet etc);
  • Knowledge of UN/UNDP rules and procedures is an asset.

Language requirements:

Fluency in English and Serbian (spoken and written).
