Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. 1. ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT AND SCOPE:

Under the direct supervision of National Officer (CREST) in Bangkok, and the overall supervision of the Programme Officer (CREST) and the Head of Labour Mobility and Human Development Unit in Bangkok, the successful candidate will support and coordinate the field-level implementation of IOM’s CREST (Corporate Responsibility in Eliminating Slavery and Trafficking) portfolio, in particular activities implemented in Thailand within frames of the CREST Fashion project.

Recognizing the high exposure of migrant workers to industry-specific risks, IOM implements CREST Fashion, intervening more specifically in Asia’s apparel and home textile supply chains. The 3-year regional initiative aims to strengthen the capacity of the fashion industry to address the risks of labour exploitation, forced labour and human trafficking in the region.

2. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Particularly, he/she will carry out the following duties:

  1. Conduct and report on field-level assessments with migrant workers, private sector and recruitment agencies relevant to the topic of ethical recruitment and decent work for migrant workers;

  2. Provide support in data analysis and report drafting following the assessment;

  3. Provide support in the preparation and delivery of the training relevant to the topic of ethical recruitment and decent work for migrant workers targeting migrant workers; private sector; government and/or private recruitment agencies;

  4. Facilitate the liaison with national and international project counterparts, including businesses and business associations, civil society organizations, and relevant government authorities;

  5. Assist coordinating logistical and administrative procedures in relation to the activities implemented under CREST portfolio;

  6. Support in informally translating project materials from English to Thai and from Thai to English, and spontaneous interpretation if requested;

  7. Prepare presentations, talking points and meeting materials as requested;

  8. Support in monitoring and evaluation of project activities as requested;

  9. Perform such other duties as may be required.

4. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • University Degree in migration studies, research, international relations, sociology, business administration or relevant field from an accredited institution with at least two years of relevant professional experience, or;
  • High school diploma with at least four years of relevant professional experience.

  • Professional experience working on labour migration, international labour recruitment, business and human rights, corporate sustainability and compliance programmes or related areas is required.

  • Professional experience on coordination or working with the government and/or private sector is required.

  • Experience on training preparations and delivery is an asset.

  • Experience on quantitative and qualitative research skills, proven experience in social sciences, sociological and/or public policy research is an advantage.

  • Strong multi-task prioritization, organizational, coordination and time management skills.

  • Ability to work in a multi‐cultural environment and respect diversity.

  • Teamwork oriented but with a capacity to work independently.

  • Confident writing and communication skills.

  • Confident user of MS Officer applications and communication platforms such as Skype for Business, BlueJeans, CISCO WebEX.

  • Personal commitment, efficiency, and flexibility.Strong interest in the issue of labour migration and anti-trafficking in persons;

  • Solid understanding of the norms of professional ethics;

Required: English (Advanced), Thai (Proficient)

Desirable: Myanmar (Advanced)
