MCDI collaborates with donors, national governments, the private sector, health agencies, communities and local stakeholders to improve health and save lives in the following areas: malaria control; maternal, neonatal and child health; water, sanitation and hygiene; tuberculosis; HIV/AIDS; and other communicable diseases.

MCDI is looking for an experienced Physician to deliver care at COVID-19 isolation sites. This individual will support and guide a team at one or more isolation facilities for individuals who are suspected or confirmed COVID-19 cases. This position will perform a range of tasks including developing clinical care plans for patients, monitoring patients, providing and following up on ongoing care, monitoring patient recovery, updating and submitting patient data, following testing and discharge algorithms, and responding to medical emergencies. This position will be responsible for seeking additional medical advice from specialists through 24/7 telemedicine services, and will help remote telemedicine providers to examine patients in real-time using digital scopes that integrate with a secure telemedicine conferencing platform.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

Qualifications include:

  • · Current medical license, in good standing with licensing board
  • · Training in general medicine, internal medicine, emergency medicine, or similar fields
  • · Specialization or training in respiratory/pulmonary care preferred
  • · ACLS/BLS training preferred
  • · Knowledge of current COVID-19 guidelines desirable
  • · Minimum of two years’ experience (will consider recent graduates)
  • · Fluency in Spanish
  • · Proficiency in English preferred

Essential Job Functions:

  • · Care for patient needs throughout their stay at isolation facilities
  • · Create & implement effective care plans for incoming patients
  • · Identify sudden or subtle changes in a patients' medical condition
  • · Evaluate and monitor patient progress
  • · Submit patient updates to lead physician daily
  • · Maintain patient records daily and ensure confidentiality of medical records
  • · Begin treatment and monitor doses when needed
  • · If necessary, respond to medical emergencies and alert the appropriate support needed
  • · Use telemedicine kits and communicate with telemedicine providers when input from specialists is needed
  • · Complete all necessary paperwork before transferring a patient out of the isolation facility
  • · Ensure that isolation guidelines are followed (infection prevention and control, etc.)
  • · Rotating between night and day shifts, and ensuring that all shifts are adequately covered with all necessary health information relayed at shift changes
  • · Stay up-to-date on COVID-19 diagnostic and treatment guidelines
