The Resident Coordinator (RC) system encompasses all organizations of the UN system dealing with operational activities for development, regardless of their formal presence in the country. UNCT and the Government of Turkmenistan are in the final years of implementation of the  5-year Turkmenistan-UN Partnership Framework for Development (2016-2020). 2020 is also the year when UN celebrates its 75 anniversary and Turkmenistan - its 25th anniversary of Neutrality, in which the UN system will actively participate. In addition, the UN has been actively engaging the public at large, especially youth, to participate in the UN75 campaign.

As UN places strong emphasis on online engagement, through virtual dialogues and social media, and it is now increasing these efforts in light of Covid-19. All these requires enhanced digital communication and increased visibility specifically through interactive content via social media and digital platforms. 

In this context, the RCO is looking for a Digital Communications Clerk who will assist the office in generating and delivering compelling content in social media and digital platforms related to UN75 campaign, COVID-19, UN Days, international campaigns and initiatives, UN Country Team’s events and others.

On the other hand, Digital Communication Clerk will contribute to the development of UN info platform data base and its related application that will be used to increase the visibility of UN activities in the country.

 

Under the overall supervision of the UN Programme Communication and Advocacy Officer, the Digital Communications Clerk will work with the RCO to:

1.         Support the development and/or adaptation of the content related to COVID-19, UN75, using graphic tools,  including information education graphic materials, advocacy images, audio, video, infographics and data visualization in cooperation with RCO team and adapt for social media, posting daily to respective channels;

2.         Contribute to growing and strengthening of UN Turkmenistan’s social media activities through supporting the maintenance of web and social media channels, interacting with new and existing audiences online and deepening engagement across all UN social media platforms;

3.         Generate and analyse reports on web traffic using Google analytics and other social media focused analytics;

5.         Assist in maintaining the UN Turkmenistan website (www.turkmenistan.un.org), which provides overall information of UN Country Team’s activities in the country.

6.         Contribute to the revision, edition and translation of UN activities in UN info data base.

 7.        Assist in developing new application/website to be used during exhibitions or other events with IT company hired by RCO

6.         Participate in the webinars and online meetings organized by the UN Department of Global Communications

  • Secondary education. Completion of specialized courses/ programmes related to communications and graphic design would be an asset.
  • At least 2 years of relevant  experience, including experience of using social media for business,  in the public or private sector.
  • Clear understanding of communication and advocacy concepts, proficient knowledge of social media networks including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, as well as experience with new media executions;
  • Experience with graphic design, design skills to enable the creation of attractive publicity content, ability to create designs for digital media purposes in open source graphic design programmes, such as Canva;
  • Experience developing compelling content to generate response from audiences online;
  • Experience in visualizing the qualitative and quantitative analytics, understanding of Google analytics;
  • Fluency in Russian, working knowledge of Turkmen and English languages.
