Terms of Reference1. General Background
The Interpreter Coordinator will be part of the Centre Coordination Team at UNHCR Office in Kuala Lumpur, work under the direct supervision of the Assistant Protection Officer (Centre Coordinator) and coordinate with various units. The Interpreter Coordinator has a direct responsibility for management of all interpreters.

2. Duties and Scope of Assignment
• Implement an effective scheduling of interpreters for UNHCR’s various processes and activities; Manage and coordinate interpreters effectively, to deliver reliable and well-planned interpretation services and meet operational requirements.
• Coordinate with relevant units to draw up improved procedures in recruitment to meet the operational needs; Process recruitment of suitable interpreters, through administering exams/interviews in a timely manner;
• Supervise and monitor the interpreters' performance; Provide feedback to interpreters, while keeping their motivation optimal;
• Maintain proper interpreters’ personnel files and attendance records; Monitor daily attendance, overtime and absences; Keep comprehensive and regularly updated interpreter database;
• Facilitate mission requests by assigning interpreters in a timely manner;
• Coordinate and conduct capacity building activities both to existing and newly recruited interpreters to ensure abidance of the Code of Conduct, which includes principles of impartiality, objectivity, confidentiality and integrity; Organize sessions to provide guidance and briefing on security, data protection, Gender Based Violence, Sexual Harassment, Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Anti-Fraud; Ensure interpreters’ compliance to the SOP and important principles and guidance;
• Process payments for interpreters’ services.
• Perform other duties as required.

4. Qualifications and Experience

a. Education

3 year relevant experience with High School Diploma, 0r 2 years relevant work experience with Bachelor or equivalent or higher

Certificates and/or Licenses: Social Science, Psychology or related discipline

Additional Information:

This position is offered under UNOPS Local ICA contract until 31/12/2023 with the possibility of extension.

The position requires fluency in English and Malay languages.

Remuneration:
A competitive compensation and benefits package is offered. The monthly net salary is between MYR 5,643 and MYR 7,148 depending on relevant experience.
