The Opportunity

As the Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Specialist in the Central African Republic, you will be responsible for assessment, response analysis, design, and implementation and monitoring and evaluation of the GBV components of Plan’s emergency response. You will ensure that gender considerations are taken into account both in the development of programmes and in the structure organisation. You will also be responsible for conducting gender assessments and analysis in all areas where Plan CAR is present and where Plan will want to start new activities.

This role will require you to coordinate with other members of the Emergency Response team and other Plan staff to ensure there is a rapid and effective response. You must take a very active role in technical co-ordination, support and advocacy with the country specific GBV sub-cluster and other stakeholders and technical agencies relevant to the sector.

The Individual

We are looking to recruit a resilient and flexible individual who has knowledge of the Minimum Standards for Child Protection in Humanitarian Action, Sphere and the Red Cross/ NGO Code of Conduct. You must have general finance, administration, information management and telecommunication skills and also be able to demonstrate leadership to support and train both local and international staff.

You will demonstrate awareness and sensitivity to gender and diversity and you will also have the capacity to make accurate self-assessments in highly stressful and high security contexts. To be successful in this role, you will have well-developed written and oral communication skills and be able to clearly and sensitively represent Plan to internal and external stakeholders.

Fluency in English is essential whilst knowledge of other languages is desirable.
