- Copy-edit and proofread overall report in French, in order to turn it into an easy-to-understand and mistake-free version;
- Identify sections that need to be reformulated/rewritten/reorganized to make the document more concise, enhance its narrative and increase the readability of the document, and discuss these with Resident Coordinator Office;
- Reformulate/reorganize/rewrite these sections in cooperation with the research institute and the Resident Coordinator Office, if necessary;
- Validate suggestions for reformulation, copy-editing and proof-reading with the research institute and the Resident Coordinator Office to ensure their accuracy and prepare final version;

2.5 months Duties and Responsibilities

The Resident Coordinator Office (RCO), jointly with UNDP and ILO, has been working on a study looking at the situation of young people, aged 15-29, who are not in employment, training or education (NEETs). A household survey has been carried out in 4 governorates of Tunisia, covering around 7,200 households. This survey was accompanied by focus group discussions in all four governorates to validate the results.

A research institute has carried out the household survey and related focus group discussions and prepared a draft report on the findings. As a next step, the RCO is looking for a French-speaking editor to proofread the report and re-write and reorganize certain sections in order to make the report more concise and enhance its narrative and messages.

Under the general guidance the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Tunisia and the direct supervision of the Office’s Economist, the consultant will be responsible for copy-editing the study and reformulating, rewriting and reorganizing specific sections. To do so, the consultant will work in close contact with the research institute to validate rewritten sections to ensure their content is accurate. Qualifications/special skills

A Bachelor’s degree in humanities, languages, social sciences or other area and an additional qualification/training in editing texts in French language are required
At least two years of professional experience in copy-editing, writing of texts and working with different authors on texts in French are required Languages

Excellent oral and writing skills in French are required. Working knowledge of English or Arabic would be an asset.
