Result of ServiceUNEP FI requires a CBD COP16 senior coordinator consultant to work in tandem with subject matter experts, key stakeholders and the UNEP FI Secretariat and the UN CBD Secretariat to support the CBD secretariat on the engagement with all actors within the financial landscape – financial ministries, financial supervisory entities, public development banks, private financial institutions, investors – on integrating the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF)and the preparation from the global financial sector for COP 16 taking place in Colombia, including a Nature and Finance Day. This includes key action that each actor within the financial landscape can take to support the implementation of the GBF and contribute to achieving its 2030 mission of reversing nature loss, and 2050 vision of living in harmony with nature. UNEP FI wants to support the UN CBD secretariat team in the contribution, awareness and impact of the global financial sector at COP16 to pivot on their role in the realization of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. This includes the organisation of a Nature and Finance Day. Based on the above, UNEP FI is looking for a consultant to: • Develop a support the key action that each actor within the financial landscape can take to support the implementation of the GBF and contribute to achieving its 2030 mission of reversing nature loss, and 2050 vision of living in harmony with nature. • Support the development of internal briefings and internal support to the ExecSec on finance themes and external briefing notes and other materials for the CBD leadership team to support the uptake and implementation of the GBF among all actors in the financial landscape. • Develop a vision and plan, alongside the UNEP FI and UN CBD secretariat team, to drive uptake and support to the goals and targets of the GBF from the global financial sector, with a focus on banks and insurance, at COP 16. • Deliver an agenda of work that integrates the High-level Roadmap and other sector-based guidance released by UNEP FI in 2023, and the COP 15 commitment signed by over 150 financial institutions. • Engage and coordinate with all relevant actors on their proposed role at COP 16, including the hosting nation Colombia and relevant local platforms such as PRI and Finance for Biodiversity Pledge for investors. • Coordinating the finance working group in the lead up to Nature and Finance Day with all of the partners and supporters. • With support from junior team members, organize Nature and Finance Day with a dedicated high-level morning session with 200-300 attendees and deep dive sessions in the afternoon with 50-100 attendees per session. • Facilitate reporting to donors and other relevant stakeholders. Outputs and Deliverables: • Develop a COP 16 Finance Plan • Deliver a Nature and Finance Day The consultant shall be under the overall supervision of Head of UNEP FI and report directly to Programme Management Officer, working in close coordination with UNEP FI’s Nature Team. Qualifications/special skillsEducation: A University degree in finance, public administration, environmental or climate science or management. Professional Experience: At least 10 years working experience in project management, finance, and nature. Experience in doing research and drafting or publishing thought leadership papers. LanguagesLanguages: English is the working language of UNEP FI. Knowledge of other United Nations languages is an asset. For this role we recommend working knowledge of Spanish. Additional InformationSkills & Knowledge: Experience in organizing high-level events in an international setting. Experience engaging with financial institutions around the nature agenda. Strong technical, scientific and project management background. Strategic thinking and relevant network in CBD space. Excellent oral and written communications skills in English and Spanish, strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage complex analysis; attention to detail.
