**Organization Background:

Collateral Repair Project (CRP) is a grassroots effort in Amman, Jordan to bring much-needed assistance to vulnerable communities since 2006. We seek to assist those in need, foster social cohesion, and help in building peace and reconciliation. Our services are provided regardless of background, and we currently provide assistance to people from many nationalities (e.g. Syria, Iraq, Jordan, Sudan, Yemen, and Somalia).

CRP’s holistic approach involves deep community engagement, where we help individuals build resilience and heal from trauma. At our vibrant Family Resource and Community Centers, CRP provides a variety of educational, recreational, and wellness activities, aiding our community to gain skills and build community. Lastly, we provide community service and

leadership opportunities for people to serve others, which has proven to be a key driver of empowerment and resilience. CRP’s greatest strengths are the deep knowledge and trust we have established with the community we serve, our commitment to community-based engagement, and our ability to develop nuanced, cost-effective, and impactful programs.

As women and children under 18 make up 75% of Jordan’s refugee population, CRP has always been particularly sensitive towards the needs of these populations. Through the close bond we have developed with our beneficiary community, we have learned that the hardships female refugees face are linked to the central problem of chronically insecure income, including the psychological toll that this burden takes. To address this, CRP offers skill-building courses for income generation skills as well as women’s empowerment and advanced leadership training. Since 2010, we have also run an independent women’s income-generation initiative called Hope Workshop. Up until now, participants have produced handicrafts that are sold in the local marketplace. We are currently expanding the program to include a productive kitchen and a small school uniform factory. These programs also provide a safe environment for women to form close relationships, creating an additional support network for this particularly at-risk population.
