Work LocationUN-House ESCWA Expected duration3 Months Duties and ResponsibilitiesESCWA Knowledge Repository aims to collect, organize, and preserve all ESCWA knowledge products in one online database. The Repository enables the sharing, availability, and accessibility of all ESCWA intellectual products under an open-access policy. The services of the Repository Librarian are needed to assist in adding and editing ESCWA knowledge items into the knowledge repository and KOHA (Integrated Library System). The Repository Librarian will be responsible for fulfilling the following tasks: • Cataloguing of knowledge products (publications, meeting documents, reports, studies, and multimedia), adding related metadata in KOHA(Integrated Library System (ILS) and ESCWA Knowledge Repository. • Ensure that all records ’metadata are compatible with international cataloguing standards, such as MARC21 and Dublin Core. • Subject analysis of the knowledge products by using UNBIS Thesaurus. • Assisting in editing bibliographical records of print collection (F236) on KOHA. • Assisting in collection management activities (Shelving, weeding of ESCWA print collection in B1 level) • Assisting in exporting and cleaning up files from KOHA to be imported into the United Nations Digital Library. • Assisting in other tasks as the need arises such as technical issues that are related to KR. Qualifications/special skillsA Bachelor's degree in Documentation, Library Science, Information management, management information systems, or other related topic is required. A minimum of 4 years of work experience in library management systems, database management is required. Experience in digital repository work is required. Experience in multimedia data is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat; and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA. For this position, fluency in English is required. Fluency in Arabic is desirable. Note: “Fluency” equals a rating of ‘fluent’ in all four areas (speak, read, write, and understand) and “Knowledge of” equals a rating of ‘confident’ in two of the four areas.
