Your responsibilities
The operation of accelerator facilities at CERN leads to the production of radioactive waste, which we need to dispose of in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and requirements of the final repositories in the host States, France and Switzerland.
You will become a member of our Radioactive Waste Management section, which is part of the Radiation Protection Group. This section has the mandate to explore, monitor, develop, and open new radioactive waste elimination pathways in CERN's hosts States. In particular, you will:
Develop new elimination pathways by defining the methods and selecting the most appropriate tools to process and characterise radioactive waste;Coordinate and participate to the implementation of the pathways and prove their effectiveness by eliminating pilot-batches of radioactive waste. You will also have a unique opportunity toApply your skills to concrete, challenging projects;Develop new competences by collaborating with CERN physicists and engineers from diverse disciplines;Benefit from an extensive package of training covering project management, programming, statistics, Monte Carlo simulations and communication,;Present your work in conferences and workshops, seminars and/or articles.Your profile

Very good communication skillsRadioactive waste managementRadiation ProtectionProject managementRadiation measurements techniquesStatistics, data analysis and Monte Carlo activation simulations methods would be assets.Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.Eligibility criteria:
You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.You have a professional background in Radiation Protection (or a related field) and have either: a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.You have never had a fellow or graduate contract before.Job closing date: 02.07.2023 at 12:00 AM (midnight) CET.
