Your responsibilities

As a Radio Frequency Design Engineer, you will join the Modulators, Klystrons & Highgradient Structures (MKS) Section of the Radio Frequency (RF) group.

The focus of this position is the Radio Frequency design and optimization of the linacs for the Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) as well as for spin-off medical applications.

Specifically, you will:

Work on the design of the Radio Frequency systems for normal conducting linacs for the linear collider and medical applications; Design and prototype a new Wake Field Monitor for the CLIC main linac;Design the Radio Frequency system for Very High Energy Electron Radiation Therapy (VHEE-RT) facility in collaboration with the medical and industrial partners;Design of high gradient accelerating structures and high-power Radio Frequency distribution network;Analyse and Mitigate RF-to-beam interaction effects related to beam loading and wakefields to guarantee preservation of the beam properties during acceleration as well as to be used for beam-based structure alignment in CLIC.

About us

At CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, physicists and engineers are probing the fundamental structure of the universe. Using the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, they study the basic constituents of matter - fundamental particles that are made to collide together at close to the speed of light. The process gives physicists clues about how particles interact, and provides insights into the fundamental laws of nature. Find out more on http://home.cern.
