DRC Sudan
DRC has been present in Sudan since 2004, delivering life-saving programming in protection, emergency response, shelter, food security and livelihoods, disaster risk reduction, camp management, and humanitarian mine action. DRC has implemented projects in Central Darfur, South Darfur, South Kordofan, Gedaref, Kassala, and Khartoum states. Sudan hosts one of the largest displaced populations in Africa, with over 3.7 million internally displaced people and over 1.1 million refugees from South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Central African Republic, Chad, Yemen and Syria. Against a background of political crisis, Sudan faces economic and social turmoil, with sharp increases in food and energy costs, further exacerbated by disease outbreaks and ongoing conflict.
About the job
The Protection Assistant is responsible for implementing community-based protection and Protection Monitoring activities. The Protection Assistant is expected to develop positive relationships with individual beneficiaries, community mobilizers and focal points and other stakeholders so as to ensure to the efficiency of DRC’s outreach strategy and overall intervention.
Responsibilities and Tasks
Programme
Contribute to the planning and implementation of programme activities related to community-based protection (CBP) To this end, support the Protection Team Leader in producing and updating monthly workplans and implement programme activities accordingly. Participate in the CBPNs establishment, orientation and training on Code of Conduct and PSEA to newly formed networks . Organize and engage CBPNs and/or Community Mobilizers in Protection Monitoring activities with the aim of collecting qualitative and quantitative data on the protection risks in the target areas and c to drafting regular protection monitoring reports. Ensure the CoVs and CBPNs are in place and active, make regular follow up and organize different activities (Awareness sessions / HHs / awareness campaign ) and hold regular meetings with them. Ensure proper recording of complaints received and actions taken and provide timely and accurate data and information to data entry and analysis. Prepare reports (weekly/monthly) on the activities done and submit timely to ProtectionMonitoring and Reporting
Produce quality and acurate reports and supporting documentation on CBP, PM activities and ensure their timely submission to the Protection Officer (CBP/PM) and the Protection Team Leader for review and internal information sharing. Ensure that both the hard and soft copies of all activity reports are safely archived. Overall, effectively use the tools and comply with the processes related to monitoring and reporting, including through the use of shared drive and dedicated platforms for information management.Representation and coordination
Represent DRC and the programme towards a wide range of stakeholders including individual beneficiaries, community mobilizers, and community-based structures’ members and focals points. Ensure professional standards and transparent communication in the external representation of the organization so as to build trust and ensure effective collaboration with all concerned stakeholders. Ensure that all interactions with individual beneficiaries take place in an environment and in a way that respect and promote the individuals’ safety, agency and dignity in accordance with professional standards for protection and humanitarian work.Operations support
Support the coordination of programme support activities as they relate to logistics, administration or security as relevant, under the guidance and supervision of the Protection Team Leader and in coordination with the relevant departments. Comply with all relevant internal policies and directives.Experience and technical competencies: (include years of experience)

1-2 years of professional experience in the field of humanitarian interventions, social sciences, human rights or community development, preferably with an international humanitarian organization. Experience in provision of psychosocial support and community-based protection activities Knowledge of the humanitarian context in Sudan and of the issues related to conflict and displacement. Experience working with IDPs as well as refugees, particularly from South Sudan is desirable. A degree in psychology is highly desirable.Education:
University Degree in the field psychology, social sciences, humanitarian affairs, international law, development or any other related field.Languages:
