How the Project Manager fits into the Integrity team
The Project Manager plays a varied technical and management role at Integrity, contributing to the design and delivery of Integrity’s projects, as well as supporting directorate and team management responsibilities. You will use your international development expertise to help win and deliver high quality, commercially viable projects.
The Project Manager will sit within our Directorate Services (D/Services) which leads the design and delivery of our work. Your responsibilities will include: project management, technical delivery, business development, account management and wider institutional learning. You will work flexibly across Integrity’s different services and directorates and be attracted to a fast-paced working environment. The focus of your work will depend on current priorities and may include periods that focus more on either project delivery or business winning.**
The Project Manager will be based in Amman and will report to a Senior Manager. You will sit in Directorate Services but work closely with other directorates, particularly Directorate Business (D/Business) to design new projects, manage consultants and build relationships with key partners and institutions.
The Manager’s Scope of Work
You will play a major role in delivering our existing MENA portfolio and winning new projects. Day to day you will work closely with colleagues on project design, project management and business development. You will manage project teams and work effectively with clients. You will also support staff management and wider company learning.
You will manage projects and write bids for clients including DFID, FCO and USAID. This includes developing appropriate and innovative approaches and methodologies to meet the needs of our clients and writing technical proposals. These proposals will relate to key service offerings, including: Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL); Research, Evidence & Analysis (REA); Project Management (PM); and Data and Knowledge Management (DKM). Key thematic areas will include: health; education; economic development; security and justice; fragility and conflict; natural resources and environment; and gender and inclusion.
In addition, you will also support the consolidation of good practice within the company and take on line management responsibilities for more junior staff members.
Terms of Reference
A. Project Management and Technical Delivery (50%)
The Project Manager will play a key role in delivering Integrity’s projects, particularly project management but also selected technical inputs.
- Support Integrity to deliver its portfolio of projects and relationships on time and to high quality standards through management and governance roles.
- Sponsor select contracted projects in governance and/or management capacities as Project Director and/or as member of project governance board.
- Negotiate successful proposals to contract ensuring effective coordination with relevant parties across Integrity’s four directorates.
- Lead on project responses to strategic risks and opportunities.
- Balance internal and external resource requirements.
- Effectively, empathetically and diligently manage relationships with clients, consortium partners and stakeholders more broadly.
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget, to high levels of quality and in keeping with Integrity’s ethics and ethos.
- Perform technical leadership and other roles on contracted projects.
- Develop and sustain our reputation for high quality, innovative and client- and community-focused work.
B. Technical Design (20%)
The Project Manager plays a key role in designing Integrity’s technical approaches through developing approach papers, leading technical proposals, assuring the quality of Integrity’s overall approach and representing Integrity externally. They will also support design related to other services and thematics.
- Contribute to the articulation, development and roll-out of approaches and methodologies, in line with Company Strategy.
- Provide internal and external thought leadership on Integrity’s technical offering.
- Lead on, and contribute to, the technical of new Integrity opportunities, from identification and pre-positioning through to submission, negotiation and inception.
- Develop and sustain strong working relationships with key government clients and other relevant accounts.
- Provide constructive quality assurance of technical offers on selected new programmes and/or bids.
- Support the growth and/or improvement of our technical, thematic and geographic capabilities.
- Engage with and influence emerging opportunities and delivery concepts and ensure Integrity’s offering is responsive to market requirements.
- Lead and/or contribute to internal and external communications on agreed services, thematics and/or geographies.
C. Account Management & Business Development (20%)
The Project Manager supports with efforts to identify and build business opportunities for the MENA region through external engagement and contributing to proposal development. This includes:
- Presenting Integrity’s approaches and competencies to external stakeholders, prospective clients and partners in the pursuit of new business opportunities.
- Identifying and evaluating consultants for inclusion in proposals.
- Developing commercial strategies and proposals for bids.
D. Learning (5%)
The Project Manager supports internal and external learning, particularly on key services, thematics and geographies. This includes building awareness of Integrity’s approaches and strengthening the capacity of colleagues to design and deliver to the required standard.
- Lead the identification of lessons from across Integrity’s portfolio, and beyond, and facilitate lesson-learning across the Team.
- Work with colleagues to support their professional development in areas of specific expertise or companies, including supporting the development of in-house training materials and delivery of training.
- Engage with the wider sector through attendance and participation in external events etc.
E. Staff Management (5%)
The Project Manager engages, tasks and motivates more junior colleagues to build their individual performance in line with company priorities and strategy.
- Line manage select Integrity staff and/or corporate consultants at grade levels below Manager.
- Work with colleagues under line management to develop their careers, contributing to professional advancement, job satisfaction and personnel retention.
Your Experience
The Project Manager will have:
- 5-10 years’ experience working within international development and/or the consultancy sector.
- Proven expertise in the design and delivery of multi-year projects in the international development sector.
- Experience in effectively managing complex projects, including budgets, work plans, clients and teams.
- Working with DFID and/or CSSF and/or USAID, including an understanding of contractual requirements.
- Experience supporting the pursuit of new business, including competitive bidding and engaging with potential clients and partners.
- Written and oral fluency in English, with the ability to write clear and compelling narrative.
It is desirable that the Project Manager will also have:
- Experience working on key thematics, including: health; education; economic development; security and justice; fragility and conflict; natural resources and environment; and gender and inclusion.
- Expertise in any of our services, including MEL, REA and DKM.
- Experience working in FCAS environments.
- Software expertise, e.g. Microsoft Excel, Access etc.
- Qualitative and Quantitative research methods.
- French and/or Arabic language skills.
