Under article 4.2, paragraph (e) of the Staff Regulations, the filling of vacancies in technical cooperation projects does not fall under Annex I of the Staff Regulations and is made by direct selection by the Director-General.

Under the direct supervision of and guidance by the Project Manager, the Project Junior Officer will be part of the Building Capacity for Social Risk and Impact Management in Agricultural Finance in Africa project team and assist the overall project activities by providing technical support and contributing to the expected project outcomes. The project works with the Africa Agriculture and Trade Investment Fund to develop and test an assessment method for determining the social, environmental and development impact of investments of the Fund in Africa. The work requires travel to West Africa to visit potential and to monitor progress of existing project partners. There is a possibility to relocate the position to West Africa.
The incumbent will also be part of the Social Finance focal point team. As office-wide focal point, SFP initiates and coordinates work linking finance to decent work. He/she will support a new work stream on sustainable investing.

Specifically, the Social Finance Unit aims at:
Reporting lines: The incumbent will receive direct supervision from the Project Manager of the Building Capacity for Social Risk and Impact Management in Agricultural Finance in Africa project.
First level degree in the relevant field. An Advanced university degree in Economics, Social Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Agricultural Economics, or similar would be an advantage.
Three years of relevant professional experience including two years at the international level.
Excellent knowledge of English and French.
