1. General Background

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is mandated to lead and coordinate international action to protect and assist refugees and other persons of concern. The Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP) sits within UNHCR's Division of External Relations (DER) and is responsible for mobilizing resources for refugees from the private sector. UNHCR has a fundraising strategy in place for 2018-2025. To achieve the ambitious objective of bringing new resources to the organization, the Private Partnership and Philanthropy (PPH) section of PSP develops and strengthens long-term partnerships with companies, foundations, and high-net worth individuals. This includes leveraging the capacities of this segment to build long lasting partnerships that goes beyond resources but expands to advocacy, communications, marketing, and public engagement.

The PPH Comms Team in Copenhagen creates communication and visibility assets for PPH partnerships and the PPH network. The contractor will help PPH Comms produce high-quality visual impact materials in digital and print formats. The contractor will work with the Assistant Graphic Design and Communications Officer to provide creative graphic design solutions and assets in line with UNHCR's brand. The contractor may also support
PPH teams with reports, infographics, concept notes, proposals, event materials, and presentations.

2. Purpose and Scope of the Assignment

The PPH Graphic Designer is expected to support the PPH team to meet the expanding needs and to streamline work processes, given the team's growing commitments.

This contractor must bring strong visual skills and relevant experience to deliver a wide range of high-quality communication materials and assets that highlight the work between partners and UNHCR for forcibly displaced persons in dynamic and engaging ways.

Responsibilities include, but should not be limited to:

• Developing high-quality and brand-compliant communication materials for existing and/or new private sector partnerships (e.g. partnership reports, cases for support, event invites, presentation templates, etc.).
• Visualizing relevant data, information and processes to explain and highlight the work of PPH and/or UNHCR in general.
• Delivering high-quality products in both Adobe Creative Cloud and Microsoft Office formats (especially .dotx and .pptx).
• Supporting the ideation process in the development of new visual products.
• Responding to ad hoc requests, as needed.

3. Qualifications and Experience

a. Education

Bachelor's/master's degree in a relevant field, such as Graphic Design, Interaction Design, or Design for Social Impact/Social Innovation.

b. Work Experience

• A minimum of one year of relevant work experience in graphic design, branding, and layout, information design and architecture, visual communication, media design, system design, or related.
• Experience working as a graphic designer with or within an international agency or an NGO is preferred.

c. Key Competencies

• Extensive understanding of creative development in relation to usage across channels and devices.
• Strong graphic design skills, particularly in the areas of layout and composition, branding, illustration, and visualization of processes, data and information
• Proven experience in translating complex ideas into clear visuals and working on projects from concept to final design
• Expert knowledge in the use of Adobe Creative Cloud applications ( especially
lnDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop) and Microsoft Office applications (especially Word and PowerPoint)
• Adherence to brand guidelines
• A portfolio that highlights editorial and information design work
• Strong skills in the use of photography and understanding of visual narrative and image guidelines, as well as photography ethics
• Attention to pixel-perfect visual form
• Ability to coordinate multiple projects at the same time for several stakeholders
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work in a team and openness to learning
• Ability to work with colleagues of different cultures

d. Languages

• Fluency in English, both verbal and written (required)
• Working knowledge of French or other UN languages is an asset

4. Location and Conditions

This position is project-based with a maximum of 50 working days allocated for this assignment until the end 2024. Please note that the contractor may also be engaged for a shorter period of time, subject to the needs and developments with the project.

The position is fully remote, the successful candidate will be home-based.

It is a part-time role with flexible time schedule following the number of effective working days.

The remuneration level and the applicable entitlements and benefits may be different based on the residence of the most suitable selected candidate.
