Objectives & Scope:
Under the general direction of the new Business Development Manager, the New Business Development Assistant - Intern will support the unit to ensure timely and quality submission of project proposals to key institutional, multi-lateral and private donors in response to the Syria crisis. Regular tasks will include assistance with pitches, proposals, research and day-to-day administrative support. The Business Development Assistant will need strong writing and proofreading skills, as well as the ability to learn and distil complex concepts as needed.
Key responsibilities:
* Produce proposal development schedules and track timelines, ensuring and facilitating coordination amongst various departments, including Programme Development and Quality, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning, Programme Operations, Finance, Supply Chain, HR and Security;
* Orient the proposal development team on donor expectations, key decisions from the Senior Management Team, and alignment to the Syria Response Office's Country Strategic Plan for each opportunity;
* Significantly contribute to proposal narratives by developing generic descriptions on Save the Children's approaches to humanitarian response and development programming in Syria, and support the technical team in developing comprehensive descriptions of programming priorities;
* Coordinate with relevant Save the Children Member Offices and ensure their feedback is taken into consideration and the proposals are approved by the Syria Response Office and the Members prior to donor submission;
* Work with PDQ team to develop capacity statements, one-pagers, position papers, snapshots, ppt presentations, concept notes, programme offers for the purpose of donor engagement;
* Undertake any other tasks as assigned by the New Business Development Manager, as needed.
Experience and competencies
* Preferred degree in languages, development studies, international relations, communication or related field.
* Fluency in written and spoken English, with the ability to copy/edit documents with limited support and supervision - often under short timelines.
* Good personal organisational skills, including time management, and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
* Good analytical skills, effective negotiator, with proven ability to positively influence cross-departmental and cross sector working.
* Proven ability to build and maintain close and constructive working relationships with peers, management and staff in defining and fulfilling knowledge needs.
* Ability to work within a multicultural setting.
* Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children's aims, values and principles
