Background

DRC has been operating in Greece since November 2015, providing support to the Greek Ministry of Migration Policy in ensuring dignified reception conditions for refugees and migrants arriving on Lesvos island. In March 2016, DRC expanded its operations in Athens, in response to the changing context and the build-up of refugee population on mainland Greece.

Purpose

DRC Greece is looking to recruit a qualified, flexible and enthusiastic professional to work for its Office in Larissa/Central Greece as a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) Assistant. Under supervision of the MEAL Manager and MEL Officer and in close coordination with other DRC field units, the MEL Assistant will support the implementation of all MEL objectives under DRC projects in Central Greece.

Duties & Responsibilities

Under the management of the Area Manager and technical supervision of MEAL Manager and MEAL Officer, the MEL Assistant will develop and maintain good relations with the persons of concern, relevant stakeholders and other humanitarian actors, to support adequate implementation and coordination of DRC’s activities.

The main responsibilities include:

  • Regularly undertake field monitoring visits to collect and document information on implementation progress and success of all programs.
  • In coordination with the MEAL Manager, carry out quantitative and qualitative data collection and data analysis activities (e.g. Focus Group Discussion, in-depth interviews, observation checklists, etc.).
  • Ensure the safe storage and archiving of the databases under his/her responsibility.
  • Support the design and piloting of monitoring tools to be used during MEAL activities.
  • During monitoring activities ensure beneficiaries are treated with respect, confidentiality, and informed consent.
  • Regularly compile success stories and case studies from the field using appropriate guidelines.
  • Support CwC Specialist and MEAL Manager in monitoring CwC activities Area level.
  • Support MEAL team in capturing and sharing lessons learned and best practices from the field or during regular review meetings.
  • Contribute to organizational learning through regular contribution to the MEAL Roundup and other learning outputs, such as studies and After Action Reviews, Internal Site Monitoring.
  • Perform any other relevant tasks as requested by Line Manager.

Required Qualifications

  • At least one year of work experience in the NGO and/or humanitarian sector or a research institution.
  • Fluency in English and Farsi/Dari.
  • Excellent skills in Microsoft Office.
  • Academic background in Social Sciences, International Development, Statistics will be considered an advantage.
  • Previous working experience in MEAL will be considered an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of Greek and/or French and/or Arabic will be considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge of PowerBi, SPSS, R and STATA will be considered an advantage.
  • Experience with reporting and synthesizing data will be considered an advantage.
