Specific responsibilities 

Ensure communities are mobilized and information about the project(s) is shared before project start.  Participate in the beneficiaries’ identification, verification, selection and registration in the project area. Conduct technical assessment for designing and preparation of BOQs for irrigation works. Contribute the designs and prepare BOQs for irrigation schemes including solar installation, piping, canals, embankments, river dams and water storage tanks/catchments. Supervise the construction and installation of irrigation schemes including solar installation, piping, canals, embankments, river dams and water storage tanks/catchments. Conduct farmer meetings for participation in the development of irrigation infrastructures. Conduct farmer trainings for Cash-for-work CfW activities. Lead in conducting regular meetings with target beneficiaries, community committee members and local leadership. Ensure that output data and reports are shared with the supervisor timely. Ensure that regular meetings are held with stakeholders; beneficiaries, non-beneficiaries and community committee members to discuss project progress and challenges etc. Participate in the implementation of the plan of action, review achievement and constraints, and provide feedback accordingly Conduct field visits and interviews with target beneficiaries to map the unmet needs, and identify any other significant issues to be reported as appropriate Receive and maintain information from IDPs coming to the NRC office and report their requests Keep track of the distribution of inputs, cash/vouchers and training activities.

Our Ideal Candidate:

We are looking for University Degree in Irrigations engineering / other relevant field. University degree in civil engineering in combination with relevant compensating experience in irrigation works. Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience with at least one year working at the target beneficiary interface in a humanitarian program.

Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts

Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.  Fluency in English, both written and verbal.

What We Offer:

Contract period:  Until December 2023 with possibility of extension
