Under the leadership of the line manager the purpose of the LFS Coordinator is to support and ensure that all LFS activities, are planned, implemented, monitored and reported according to NRC standards, procedures and national regulations. This could include business development, sustainable agriculture and production, sustainable value chains, economic inclusion, as well as activities within LFS that implement Cash & Voucher Assistance (CVA).

Generic responsibilities

  1. Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines.
  2. Implement delegated LFS project portfolio according to plan of action.
  3. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
  4. Ensure proper filing of documents.
  5. Support all LFS team members as per the project activities.
  6. Ensure the development and implementation of high-quality programme activities.
  7. Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in activities.
  8. Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need and explore and asses new and better ways to assist.

    Specific responsibilities 

    1. Coordinate and lead technical assessments, participate when required to support evidence-based programming and support the identification of trends, technical standards and donor priorities.
    2. Coordinate and support distribution of LFS related inputs such as business grants and cash and voucher assistance. 
    3. Ensure that the projects are directed to the target population as defined in LFS strategy through clear and timely sensitisation of the planned activities to the communities.
    4. Participate in field level coordination activities with community stakeholders in areas of project implementation as directed by LFS PM
    5. Coordinate activities with logistics and finance teams
    6. Support the PM in drafting reports of any kind and contributing to proposals writing with development of work plan, budget, BoQs and list of activities.
    7. Provide specific technical inputs and contribute to the development of technical guidance when requested by the PM.
    8. Provide regular progress reports including difficulties, lessons learned and execute the work plan as discussed with line manager. 
    9. Ensure that information on reconciliation of deliveries of any inputs is transparent, up to date and complete in accordance with NRC guidelines and donor requirements. 
    10. Ensure safe and inclusive programming by facilitating data sharing for the proper flow of information management and integrated programming as required.
    11. Contribute, in conjunction with the Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Unit, to the provision of feedback, technical improvements, best practices and lessons learnt.
    12. Support and actively cooperate in training other LFS staff 
    13. Always work with a gender and protection lens and ensure that environmental and nutritional sensitivity are incorporated into all LFS plans and activities. 
    14. Support and facilitate the development of area based response strategy
    15. Support the strengthening and expansion of NRC partnerships
    16. Assist with any other duties assigned by line manager as and when required.

      Critical interfaces

      The relevant interfaces for this position are:

      • Project Planning: PM, Specialist, MEL Coordinator, and other active NRC CC project staff.
      • Area Operations: HSS Coordinator and support functions (HR, Finance, Logistics, IT).
      • Training and training development: PM, Specialist HR and other active NRC CC project staff.
      • Implementation: PM, Specialist, M&E, support functions (HR, Finance, Logistics, IT, HSS) other active NRC CCs project staff.

        Generic professional competencies: 

      • Studies related to livelihoods and food security (business, financial inclusion, agriculture, development, economics, sustainability, employability, food security) are desired minimum at university level.
    17. Minimum 2 years of relevant experience within LFS, ideally from working on coordination or equivalent. 
  9. Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills in LFS related analysis, Cash and Voucher Programming (CVA), microenterprise business start-ups, savings and financing, and agricultural sector-based programs such as farming, agroecology, agribusiness, soil science, nutrition. Excellent interpersonal and networking skills and the ability to liaise authoritatively with figures from the humanitarian community, local media, local government and army, and other relevant actors, when required.
