Lead, Delivery Unit - GL D - Defined Duration until December 2026

The Global Fund Delivery Unit drives the delivery of key organizational priorities and initiatives that will allow the Global Fund to enhance its performance and end the epidemics of AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria.

The Delivery Unit facilitates the implementation of key cross-functional priorities within the organization spanning strategy implementation, operating model, process and performance optimization. Reporting directly to the Manager, Delivery Unit and engaging closely with members of the Management Executive Committee, the Delivery Unit converts strategic objectives into programs of work for implementation that drive impact.

The Lead, Delivery Unit has direct responsibility for successful and effective execution of one or more organizational priorities, working closely with the Manager, Delivery Unit other Delivery Unit Leads, and with the support of (Senior) Associates, Delivery Unit. In this capacity, the Lead, Delivery Unit maintains an ongoing interface with selected senior Global Fund stakeholders and teams to drive focused and sustainable delivery.

Working closely with the Manager, Deliver Unit, the Lead, Delivery Unit also supports management of the Delivery Unit, including supervising (Senior) Associates, managing the pipeline of projects, reporting to leadership and developing the methodological toolkit of the Delivery Unit.

Key Responsibilities

Efficient and effective delivery of organizational priorities:

  • Cascades organizational priorities to Delivery Unit project definitions, design and delivery plans.
  • Drives organizational performance with direct accountability for delivery on a subset of pre-defined organizational priorities that form part of the overall Delivery Unit agenda.
  • Manages the end-to-end priority project cycle, from framing of problem and needs analysis, to project definition and scoping, design of interventions and definition of outputs/outcomes/measures of success.
  • Leads implementation of Delivery Unit projects to deliver on annual priorities and ensures alignment with global leading practices, including but not limited to projects on business transformation, organizational effectiveness, strategy implementation, organization design and process optimization.
  • Proactively leads project management, performance monitoring, risk mitigation and problem-solving in the design and delivery of priority projects.
    • Manages synergies across interdependent organizational priorities and Delivery Unit workstreams, ensuring effective alignment and integration to deliver on organizational priorities.

      Stakeholder engagement and collaboration:

      • Along with the Manager, Delivery Unit, interfaces with senior Global Fund stakeholders to strengthen collaboration and effective communication across the organization to accelerate delivery of organizational priorities.
        • Collaborates with senior leadership, including the Management Executive Committee (MEC), Extended Leadership Team and Chief of Staff (CoS) to align team objectives with organizational priorities.
        • Provides regular updates to CoS and senior leadership on team performance and progress of priority projects.

          Team management and development

          • Provides methodological and technical oversight of (Senior) Associates in the design and delivery of projects, identifying knowledge/delivery gaps and intervening with required support.
          • Implements structured knowledge management processes in the Delivery Unit, ensuring organizational learning is captured across projects and teams, and leveraged to inform subsequent programs of work.
          • Facilitates continuous improvement of Delivery Unit through knowledge sharing, capability building and personnel development.
          • Effectively manages team members in scope of area of responsibility including development, performance management knowledge sharing, capability building.
          • Performs people management responsibilities as required.

            Qualifications

            Essential:

            • University degree within the area of Business Administration, International Development, Public Policy, Global Health, or another relevant field, with 4 - 6 years of relevant (post-university) work experience; Or
            • Postgraduate university degree within the area of Business Administration, International Development, Public Policy, Global Health, or another relevant field
