Job description

With extensive solar and wind resources at its disposal, Tunisia has great potential for producing electricity from renewable energy sources. In its solar plan, the Tunisian Government committed to expanding the use of renewable energy. The project improves the framework conditions for more intensive involvement of the private sector in the implementation of the Tunisian solar plan by independent power producers (IPPs). By providing needs-based advice at the level of the Ministry of Energy and the electricity utility, the project lays the foundations for private sector-led renewable energy (RE) power generation and accompanies the tender rounds of the concession regime for this purpose. The various actors are supported and accompanied in the planning, approval, construction, grid integration and operation of the first IPP projects.

Your tasks

Supporting the technical, conceptual and organisational implementation of the project Supporting technical and conceptual advice to relevant partners in Tunisia and other stakeholders on renewable energy, grid integration, private sector investment in RE and energy policy Focus on supporting the technical, conceptual and strategic support to the Ministry of energy and to the implementation of the concession regime for private sector led RE power generation Support of development of renewable energy in Tunisia as well as knowledge management for GIZ Data collection, monitoring and evaluation and communication as well as reporting in clos ecoordination with FMB Technical support of national and international consultants as well as support quality assurance of work results

Your profile

University degree in energy, economics, or ressource management First work experience in the private sector in the field of energy economics/policy, e.g. in export promotion in business associations, chambers of commerce or similar Experince with market studies on behalf of ministerial bodies or business associations such (e.g. BMWK) or others with a focus on energy, green hydrogen and digitalisation In-depth knowledge of renewable energies and green hydrogen Ability to work on the political stage, good instinct for policy and technical advice as well as high political sensitivity Diplomatic skills in dealing with a complex partner structure in an arabic country Ability to work in a team, social and intercultural competence as well as high flexibility Business fluent in French, English and German, Arabic intermediate necessary

The field of activity of the position relates to Afghanistan/Iraq/Yemen. GIZ Afghanistan maintains a branch office in Dubai where employees are stationed./ The activities are currently carried out to Eschborn/Gaziantep... Occasional to frequent business travel to Afghanistan/Iraq/Jordan is required. Depending on the security situation and the requirements of GIZ, it is possible that the location will be relocated from Dubai/Eschborn/... back to Kabul/Baghdad/…
