NRC CONTEXTE

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) is an independent, humanitarian, non-profit, non governmental organisation. We provide assistance, protection and durable solutions to refugees and internally displaced persons worldwide. What is NRC? NRC promotes and protects the rights of refugees and people who have been displaced within their own country. We take action during situtations of armed conflict, and engage in other contextes where our competences will add value. The majority of our 5000 staff members are national employees in NRC’s projects in around 25 countries worldwide. All our projects are supervised by the NRC Head Office in Oslo. NRC was established in 1946 under the name Aid to Europe, to assist refugees in Europe after World War II. Today NRC is organised as an independent, private foundation. We cooperate closely with the UN and other humanitarian organisations, around the world as well as in Norway. What does NRC do? Programme Activities: NRC’s main activity is the deliverance of humanitarian aid through programme activities in the field. NRC specialises in five programme areas, or core competences Shelter, Food Security, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Education, and Information Counselling and Legal Aid (ICLA). The core competences are adaptive to different contexts and mutually reinforcing.

Role and responsibilities                                                                                        

The purpose of the Information Counselling and Legal Assistance Intern is to provide support to the ICLA Team and contribute to the implementation of the ICLA program in Nigeria, Adamawa State. 

Generic responsibilities

These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential.

Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines. Adheres to and supports the implementation of NRC ICT, HR/ADM policies and procedures, handbooks, and guidelines. Implement delegated Cc projects according to plan of action. Ensure that the project targets participants most in need and explore and assess new and better ways to assist. Promote and share ideas for technical improvement. Actively facilitate and maintain Liaison and collaboration with relevant local and national authorities and stakeholders and represent NRC in relevant forums. Promote the rights of Project participants in line with the NRC, ICLA and advocacy strategy. Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the activities to ensure accountability.  Prepare periodic progress reports and other documents as required. Perform any other professional duties as requested by the ICLA Assistant, ICLA Officer, Team Leader, ICLA Coordinator and ICLA PM 

Specific responsibilities 

Support in the Implementation of the ICLA project by supporting in the facilitation of HLP & CCDR training, information sessions, counselling sessions, and legal assistance on LCD & HLP.  Learn and understand the proper filing of documents as required. Assist in the distribution of support to CDR structures, and logistical support to NIMC & NPC. Ensure and maintain transparency in the implementation of projects. Support and segregating gender during implementation Support in crowd control during ICLA activities  Support with data verification and upload of MOVs on ICLA online platforms.  Support in ensuring quality program implementation. Contribute to providing technical assistance to the ICLA and contribute to the development of a quality ICLA program in line with the Nigerian context. Perform any other duties as requested by the ICLA AOfficer on Logistics processes, procurement, warehousee, fleet management, HR/Admin and Finance.  Community engagement and support on legal identity and Housing Land and property
