NORCAP is the Norwegian Refugee Council’s expert deployment mechanism. Its Headquarters is located in Addis Ababa, the capital city of Ethiopia. Organization Setting and Reporting The position is part of the African Union Compliance & Accountability Framework Project in the Peace Supports Operations Division (PSOD) and is located in the civilian component of the Multinational Joint Task Force on Boko Haram (MNJTF) in N'djamena, Chad. The position falls within the overall functions of the PSOD to plan, launch, direct, manage, sustain and liquidate Peace Support Operations (PSOs) mandated by the Peace and Security Council of the AU (Council) - as well as to provide strategic support to authorized PSOs. Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Head of the civilian component of the MNJTF and the Compliance Coordinator in the PSOD,, the Human Rights Officer will assist in the promotion, training and protection of human rights In the Multinational Joint Task Against Boko Haram (MNJTF) and will act as the human rights liaison between the MNJTF Headquarters and the AU Headquarters. Sitting In the MNJTF Headquarters in N'djamena, Chad , the post holder will work with their counterparts in the mission area to monitor, report and advise on human rights issues and coordinate with relevant partners and stakeholders on these matters. The personnel will also perform the following main duties:

Education: A first level University degree in Law, Social Science, or other related fields. Advanced University degree in Law, Social Science, or other related fields with a relevant combination of academic qualifications andTenure of Appointment
The appointment shall be for an Initial period of one (1) year, the first three (3) months of which shall be on probation. It shall be renewable subject to performance and availability of funds.

The salary attached to the position is at P2 Step 5 inclusive of all allowances for internationally recruited staff.
