About ChildFund Alliance

ChildFund Alliance is a global network of 12 child-focused development organizations working in more than 70 countries to create opportunities for children and youth, their families and communities. We work with more than 16 million children and their families to overcome poverty and the underlying conditions that prevent children from achieving their full potential.

The Alliance creates opportunities for joint initiatives. It improves the effectiveness of programs for children, increases efficiency and extends the reach and influence of ChildFund Alliance members by enhancing their individual and collective strengths. The Alliance builds on more than 80 years of its members’ experience in working to improve the lives of children, families and communities.

The ChildFund Alliance Secretariat oversees the day-to-day operations of the Alliance and works with Alliance members to establish operating standards, adopt common policies and coordinate advocacy strategies. The Secretariat has two offices: a headquarters in New York, and an EU office located in Brussels. The Global Partnership Advisor will operate out of the Alliance Secretariat’s EU office in Brussels.

The Position

The Global Partnership Advisor is a new role created to contribute to the success of ChidlFund Alliance during the implementation of its forthcoming 4-year strategic plan, with an important focus on advancing the Alliance’s partnership and grant strategy. This strategy envisions the development of long-term partnerships with institutions and private entities that share our goals as well as an increase in the Alliance members’ joint funding stream for programming with and for children.

The Global Partnership Advisor will be part of ChildFund’s partnership team based in Brussels and will report to the EU Office Director. Working closely with the Alliance members’ programme and business development staff, the Global Partnership Advisor will directly contribute to building opportunities and strategically positioning ChildFund Alliance to maximize funding for the programs of Alliance members.

Role and responsibilities

The role of the ChildFund Alliance Global Partnership Advisor is to identify and develop new partnership and business development initiatives, which will be aligned with and directly support the Alliance thematic and programmatic priorities identified in the next strategic plan. She/he will contribute to developing the Alliance members’ portfolio of donors (institutions, foundations, corporate grant makers) and establishing long-term relationships with them.

The Global Partnership Advisor will undertake the following responsibilities:

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the oversee development assistance funders globally, acquired by 7+ years of professional experience in the international development sector.

  • Proven track record in building partnerships and securing multi-year / multi-million funds with bilateral and multi lateral institutional donors as well as private donors.

  • A thorough understanding of current discourse on approaches to project management, monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment in international development.

  • Outstanding networking, outreach and negotiation skills.

  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English is essential; conversational Spanish and / or French is a plus.

  • Excellent team and interpersonal skills appropriate for working effectively in a multi-cultural and fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to take initiative, but also collaborate with colleagues.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks with limited supervision and to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
