Emergency Deployments Associate
Organizational Setting and Work Relationships
The Emergency Deployment Associate is responsible for administering and managing the deployments of UNHCR staff under the Emergency Response Team Roster (ERT) and other internal functional rosters, as well as the deployments through UNHCR's Standby Partners. S/he also assists in relevant emergency management trainings activities, such as the Workshop on Emergency Management (WEM). The incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Emergency Partnerships and Deployment Officer.
The incumbent will have regular contacts with the ERT roster members, in particular prior to their deployment, but also during or after deployment. S/he will also liaise closely with relevant Divisions, including DHR, and Bureaux in connection with the Terms of References for deployees, their technical clearance, etc. as well as with the requesting office. S/he will have to maintain regular contacts with a wide range of Standby Partners and field operations.
Emergency Service is also responsible for the regular reporting on emergency deployments, including for external purposes, and the incumbent compiles such statistics.
Due to the nature of emergencies, the requests for deployments cannot be predicted and require an immediate response. This may result in working beyond regular working hours and be able to cope with a sudden additional workload and pressure
In light of the above, the incumbent needs to: have the ability to work under pressure, be well-organized with attention to detail, have strong inter-personal skills, have excellent communication skills and be a strong team player.

Relevant Job Experience
Essential
Good knowledge of UNHCR administrative processes and procedures related to missions and deployments an advantage.
Strong computer skills in terms of MS office software with advanced knowledge of excel and an ability to analyse and present statistical data in ways that inform decision making.
A clear ability to multi-task given the demanding working environment, often with tight deadlines.
Excellent communication and inter-personal skills combined with flexibility and adaptability always with a strong focus on timely service delivery.
Cultural and diversity sensitivity.

Prior first hand-knowledge of emergency operations.
