The United Kingdom Mission to the UN & WTO in Geneva (UKMis) represents the interests and policies of the UK at many international organisations. We are currently looking for a temporary local member of staff B3 (L) Delegation Coordinator for the Economic Section to provide maternity cover for a period of one year from late April 2020 - until 30 April 2021.

[Please note there will be no automatic renewal of the contract, and no guarantee of an alternative role offered in the Mission, as this is a strictly temporary and time-limited position.]

The successful jobholder will provide administrative support, and limited policy support, to the Trade and Economic team. This is a varied and multi-faceted role in a fast-paced environment. We require a highly organised individual who is excellent at coordinating a large team, and can take responsibility for planning logistics at high-level events. The successful candidate will be a strong team player and self-starter who, as well as maintaining grids and tracking systems, also needs to be able to grasp policy developments on trade and economic issues. They will be responsible for a range of administrative, organisational and logistical tasks, policy work and event planning, including supporting policy leads with tracking developments across a range of policy dossiers, and facilitating team coordination and synthesis on a range of cross-cutting issues. They will manage the Section’s budget.

This person will work on several logistical issues, including travel plans, accommodation, payments and accreditation planning for the team’s work at both the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting in Davos and the next WTO Ministerial Conference in Kazakhstan, and help manage all events organised by the Section in Geneva. They will maintain a calendar tracking the wide variety of meetings and engagements across the economic spectrum in Geneva including at the WTO, WIPO, ITU and UNCTAD. They will oversee the Section’s internal communications and budget, and provide wider administrative support for the Section, including drafting of statements as necessary and monitor and report crosscutting trade and protectionism trends to leads in the Mission and London. The role is primarily office-based and administrative in nature, but there will be possibilities for discrete policy responsibility depending on the Section’s workloads and priorities
