Terms of ReferenceOrganisational context
The Joint Data Center is a collaboration between two multilateral institutions – the World Bank and UNHCR – joining efforts and expertise towards improving the quality and quantity of data for evidence-based policy decisions and responses to global forced displacement crises. The collaboration between the World Bank and the UNHCR builds on their on-going joint initiatives on forced displacement including analytical work and microdata collection.

The mission of the Center is to enhance the ability of stakeholders to make timely and evidence-informed decisions that can improve the lives of affected people. The Joint Data Center leverages partnerships and innovation in its focus on the collection, analysis, dissemination, and use of primary microdata that enables policymaking, programming, and research. This includes demographic and socioeconomic data, including on income, skills, education, health, and economic activity on refugees, internally displaced persons, stateless people, returnees, asylum seekers and host populations.

Duties and responsibilities
The intern’s duties and responsibilities will include:
• Analyzing data and preparing descriptive analytical summaries to support JDC activities.
• Editing and proof-reading technical documents covering data and economics
• Contributing to literature reviews on the issue of forced displacement (focusing on quantitative analyses) and draft of topical summaries.
• Supporting team members in the drafting and editing of blogs, social media content, papers, and presentations to support dissemination and events.
• Collaborating with team members to prepare and execute events, internal and external meetings, including notetaking and production of supporting documentation.
• Performing other tasks as needed
Minimum qualifications required
In order to be considered for an internship, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
• Be either a recent graduate (having completed their studies within two years of applying) or a current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme from a university or higher education facility accredited by IAU/UNESCO; and
• Have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant or of interest to the work of UNHCR.

Desirable qualifications and skills.
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree equivalent or higher in a subject such as Economics, Political Sciences, International Studies, Public Policy, Communications, Marketing or similar.
• Have a demonstrated interest in forced displacement issues and/or experience working in this area.
• Fluent English speaker with a high standard of written language, including strong editing skills.
• Be able to work well independently as well as in an intercultural team.
• Be available to work full time (40 hours per week) throughout the duration of the internship.
• Knowledge of social media tools.
• Previous experience in drafting of dissemination products (reports, policy briefs, data summaries, etc.)

Conditions
This is a full-time role with working hours starting from 8.30am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday (40 hours per week). The successful candidate will be assigned to support the Joint Data Centre team at UN City, Copenhagen, Denmark. Depending on the circumstances, there is a possibility the successful candidate will perform certain duties remotely and/or from at home. Recruitment as a UNHCR staff member and engagement under a UNHCR affiliate scheme or as an intern is subject to proof of vaccination against Covid-19.
For non-EU candidates, D-visa needs to be obtained before traveling to Denmark which takes 4 to 6 weeks. The office will provide assistance on visa-related issues.
Allowance: Interns who do not receive financial support from an outside party will receive an allowance to partially help to cover the cost of food, local transportation and living expenses.
