Since the beginning of the war, HI has set up a two-country program covering Ukraine and Moldova. Aligning itself with the priorities of the Ukraine Flash Appeal and Regional Refugee Response Plan, HI pillars of interventions are :
HI has 3 hubs, one in the East (based in Dnipro with sub bases in Kharkiv and Poltava), one in the West (based in Lviv), one in the South East (based in Mikolaiv) and the coordination is in Kyiv.
The country MEAL manager is responsible for the MEAL and information management (IM) teams working in his or her geographical area of responsibility and is the direct line-manager of at least one MEAL Senior Officer, one IM Officer and all the MEAL and IM teams working in countries in his or her geographical area. He or she is in charge of deploying HI’s MEAL and IM standards on his or her programme and ensuring their application. The overall coherency of the projects and their quality control is ensured by the MEAL department and the Technical Unit Manager.
In this context, your missions will be the following:
Mission 1: Management
Be line manager of the MEAL and IM teams of the programme (10+ officers).
Mission 2: Strategy and steering
Define the MEAL part of the Operational Strategy, pilot the related action plan and the strategy monitoring tool.
Mission 3: Standards and expertise
Design the program's MEAL and IM systems and monitor their implementation and quality.
Mission 4: Operational implementation
Contribute towards improving HI’s response within the geographical scope.
Mission 5: Emergency Preparedness and Response Responsibilities
Leads the emergency preparedness actions in his/her department and, in case of emergency, reorganizes the priorities of the team.
The security situation in Ukraine remains relatively stable, although there are frequent days and nights of air alerts. However, markets, restaurants and cafes are open, and life continues as normal. There is a strict curfew, the hours depend on the region.
