Program Overview

Launched in early 2014, WRI Indonesia builds on WRI’s global 20-year history in the country and the official establishment of WRI Indonesia office has strengthened our impacts on the ground in recent years. Our current work primarily focuses on forest and land-use. Over time WRI Indonesia aims to expand its portfolio to include climate, energy, and city and transportation. In the last four years, WRI Indonesia is working with the demand side of the renewable energy sector and establish an initiative called the Clean Energy Investment Accelerator (CEIA).

CEIA is an innovative public-private partnership initiative that aims to address barriers and scale up renewable energy (RE) deployment for commercial and industrial consumers in emerging markets. CEIA is jointly led by the World Resources Institute (WRI), Allotrope Partners, and the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and is supported by bilateral and philanthropic donors. Under the Climate Solution Project (CSP), this year, CEIA Indonesia will work towards energy efficiency and conservation for key sectors, such as industrial estate, textile, buildings, wholesale, cement, pharmacy, and food and beverages sectors. Having these objectives, WRI Indonesia plans to assist in piloting Energy Efficiency (EE) and Energy Conservation (EC) utilization in several sectors of industries.

Moreover, this year, WRI Indonesia is partnering with the GIZ and other consortiums under the Sustainable Energy Transition (SETI) project to decarbonize major players of industries in Indonesia. The decarbonization strategy will definitely related to EE, EC, and renewable energy (RE) utilization. Align with the effort, we just signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the West Java Provincial Government to create a clean energy roadmap, planning, and strategy for industrial estates in West Java. Therefore, EE and EC planning are needed to be considered as one of the industrial decarbonization building blocks.

Job Highlight

As the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Consultant, you will be tasked to conduct a technical advisory and consultation on EE and EC for related WRI Indonesia Energy Program’s projects that relates with industrial decarbonization. This includes coordination meeting with the CEIA Indonesia team, all the SETI project consortium, and all the related external stakeholders in the industrial decarbonization projects. Asides, the Energy consultant is expected to provide advisory, methodology, surveys, presentation and report drafting for the external stakeholders and other related parties in WRI Indonesia Energy’s industrial decarbonization projects. The successful candidate for this position will need to demonstrate excellent research capabilities and experiences; attention to detail; can do attitude; and strong interpersonal skills.

What You Will Do

  • Conduct technical assistance and advisory on the EE and EC-related issues to WRI Indonesia Energy team external stakeholders and beneficiaries under the CSP, SETI, and other relevant industrial decarbonization projects;
  • Conduct supporting EE and EC related presentations, reports, and analytical products for industrial decarbonization projects beneficiaries.
  • Advise the WRI Indonesia team on the challenge and opportunity for energy efficiency and energy conservation from the programmatic-strategic perspectives.
  • Advise the WRI Indonesia team on the challenge and opportunity for the EE and EC from the programmatic-strategic perspectives.
  • Contribute ideas to expand WRI’s position and leadership in these areas as well as our strategy as we grow the initiative.

    What You Will Need

    • 10 years of full-time professional experience performing energy efficiency, energy conservation and energy audit analysis.
    • Requires proven and experience on develop scientific report/publications.
    • Experience in Energy Efficiency, Energy Conservation and Energy Audit related research or project are preferred.
    • Master and/or Doctoral Degree in engineering, urban planning, energy management, or climate science that experienced in Energy Efficiency, Energy Conservation and Energy Audit.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced office environment and cross-sectoral themes independently and as part of a global team across time zones.
    • Adaptable to rapidly changing priorities and able to manage multiple deadlines and deliver high quality work products.
    • Highly motivated, strong can-do attitude, proactive work style and excellent organizational skills and work-ethic.
    • Detail-oriented and organized thinker who can juggle multiple, competing priorities.

      Deliverables

      The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Consultant will deliver these items below based on the agreed work plan with the WRI’s energy team:

      1. Active participation in team’s strategic discussion on EE and EC;
      2. Presentation, document and other analytical products to targeted stakeholders;
      3. Advisory/assistance to targeted stakeholders.

        1 July 2023 – 30 September 2023

        Terms of Payment

        Daily-rate consultant with maximum of 7 (seven) working days per month

        Contract Arrangement

        Individual consultancy contract (Part-time, limited term)
