Duties and responsibilities

• Support research and development of guidance documents, reports etc. on the various thematic areas falling under the CBP Unit’s responsibility.
Annex 1
• Support the development and facilitation of learning initiatives led or co-led by the CBP Unit, as required.
• Support the work of the UNHCR inter-divisional Task Team on Engagement and Partnership with Organizations led by Displaced and Stateless Persons.
• Support collaboration with the International Disability Alliance, especially in the area of meaningful participation of displaced and stateless persons with disabilities.
• Support the collection and update of promising practices on CBP and AGD at the regional and country levels.
• Support the daily administration of the CBP Unit online filing system, relevant internal and external UNHCR webpages, and SharePoint platforms.
• Support with the management of the DIP-CBP mailbox, including monitoring the inbox and responding to or forwarding messages as per provided guidance.
• Support drafting of reports and talking points on CBP and AGD relevant topics.
• Support the organization of initiatives and development of communications related to international events such as IDAHOTB.
• Support regular and ad hoc analysis of protection data, including pledges ahead of the Global Refugee Forum (GRF) 2023.
• Assist with conference/meeting preparations as required and provide support to the CBP Unit with any other administrative tasks as necessary, including for virtual meetings/webinars and capacity building activities.
• Assist with notetaking during meetings or workshops as required.

Eligibility

To be considered for an internship, candidates must:

- be a recent graduate* or current student in a graduate/undergraduate school programme from a university or higher education facility accredited by UNESCO;
- have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a field relevant to, or of interest to, the work of the organization; and
- not have immediate relatives (father, mother, brother, or sister) working for UNHCR as a staff member on any contract type or as an affiliate at the time of application.
*Recent graduates are considered to be candidates who completed their studies within two years of applying for an internship with UNHCR.

Community-Based Protection (CBP) Unit Intern will:

• Have a background in social work, law, anthropology, development studies or any other relevant field;
• Present proven experience in working with Microsoft Office programmes. Preference will be given to candidates with advanced skills in Excel, SharePoint, and Adobe.
• Have good oral and written English skills. Knowledge of French, Arabic or Spanish is an asset;
• Have proven research and analytical skills;
• Have good communication skills and experience working in a diverse team;
• Be able to work independently, be proactive and adapt quickly to fast changing requirements; and
• Display professional and personal integrity.

*Previous experience of working for forcibly displaced or stateless people is an asset.
