1. General Background

The Supporter Engagement Section (SES) sits within the Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP) and serves departments within Division of External Relations (DER), PSP and the wider organization.

This role will be part of the Digital Marketing and Regional Engagement team (DMRE) who support UNHCR fundraising activities. The role will work directly with the Digital Reporting Officer to provide data and insights to report on, and optimize, digital fundraising.

Special attention will be given to:

▪ The management and development of reporting dashboards, for a variety of end users
▪ The quality, and accessibility of data to support fundraising activities
▪ Supporting the data related activities of the DMRE, and wider PSP network
▪ The translation of complex data into easy-to-understand reports

2. Purpose and Scope of Assignment

Under the overall supervision of Senior Digital Strategy and Planning Officer, and day to day supervision of the Digital Reporting Officer, the Associate Digital Reporting Officer will assist in the following:

▪ Proving support to Supporter Engagement Section colleagues, as well as the PSP network, with the production and creation of reports and analysis from sources including digital marketing and donor data. This will include supporting individual markets, and their agencies, on a case by base basis with their data and reporting needs.
▪ Curate and develop the reporting dashboards which the Digital Marketing and Regional Engagement team provides to the PSP network. This will include data quality checks, troubleshooting, solving arising issues, improving efficiency and adjusting the dashboard’s front end in response to end user requests.
▪ Provide analysis and reporting solutions to colleagues from across the PSP network on both an ad-hoc and routine basis. This will include analysis of digital campaign performance as well as donor behaviour. This will include using the HQ BigQuery data warehouse to query data and prepare reports using SQL.
▪ During peak emergency periods, supporting colleagues and the wider PSP network with daily reporting and data quality troubleshooting.
▪ Support the maintenance of existing data sources including Google Analytics, Salesforce, Selligent, Meltwater, Facebook and Google Search Ads to ensure that data quality standards are met and that any problems are flagged, as well as monitoring compliance with tracking and data collection standards.
▪ As new data sources (e.g. advertising platforms or CRMs) are connected to the Data Lake, assist in the quality control and manipulation of these for future reporting needs.
▪ Write SQL queries in the Google Cloud Platform to create new reporting views as well as improving and maintaining existing SQL queries.

3. Qualifications and Experience

a. Education

• University degree in computer science, statistics, science, marketing or business administration or related field

b. Work experience

• 3 years relevant experience with bachelor’s degree, or 2 years with master’s or equivalent higher degree
• Experience analysing and reporting digital marketing data is required
• Experience working in a digital team is preferred
• Experience in PowerBi or similar BI tools required
• Experience in SQL preferred
• Having worked with Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics or other relevant website measurement before
• Experience in creating and maintaining reporting dashboards with a focus on end user requirements and data quality
• Experience in using and maintaining large data sets
• Experience with Google Cloud BigQuery is preferred
• Experience with Google Analytics is preferred
• Experience from fundraising, or the not for profit sector, preferred

c. Key competencies
• A focus on the end user of the data, and the challenges they have, rather than the technical solution
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
• Strong understanding of attribution in digital marketing and the different ways in which this can be modelled
• A good understanding the digital marketing landscape, having direct experience of analysing digital marketing data from a range of different platforms
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Fluency in written and oral English is required
• Knowledge of another UN language desirable

4. Location and Conditions

This is a remote working position and the successful candidate will be home-based.

This position is initially up to the end of the year with possibility of extension subject to budget availability and overall performance of the incumbent. It is a full-time role starting from 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday (40 hours per week).
