In situations of armed conflict, Geneva Call, as a neutral, impartial and independent international humanitarian organization, endeavors to strengthen the respect of humanitarian norms and principles by armed non-State actors, in order to improve the protection of civilians, while supporting local communities in their efforts to enhance their own protection. Appel de Genève/Geneva Call is a private, not-for-profit, humanitarian organization foundation under Swiss law, founded in 1998.
Role
The position is located in the Department of Operations under the supervision of the Operations Director
Activities
Based in Geneva and under the guidance of the Operations Director, the position holder will be responsible for the following duties:
Program Cycle Management (Quality control)
Responsible of the Quality Control of the Program Cycle Management done at field level.
Programming
Ensure an up to-date overview of operational matters in the Region,
Keep him/herself informed of GC activities in Country Offices of Field Mission’s needs and priorities
Ensure monitoring of the outcomes and impacts is being done at field level.
Offer support whenever needed
Budget monitoring
Ensure that burn rate and implementation rate of budgets are on-track and following donor’s requirements.
Fundraising
In consultation with GC field office, explore fundraising opportunities at EU level and ensure the follow up with the Fundraising department
Communication
Ensure that relevant data are collected and compiled to feed GC annual report or any other communication support.
Communicate with GC partners, institutional and private donors or other international NGOs about in-country issues and the implementation of projects.
Security
Ensure GC security Framework is well understood and implemented at field level
Management
Acts as technical link to the Country Director and head of Region
Competencies:
Solid project management skills related to organizational development projects and international, cross-functional teams with a proven history of delivering results
Substantial knowledge of international development systems, institutions and donors, and of procedures, accountability frameworks and best practices
Ability to work under pressure and in conflict‐affected settings, and to handle numerous tasks simultaneously
Understanding of International Humanitarian Law is an asset
A graduate degree or equivalent experience in international relations/another humanitarian field
Proven experience in project management including budget, HR, process and report management
At least 3 years of relevant experience in a humanitarian organization working in conflict areas
Experience of working in African contexts is an asset
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the Organisation, fluency in written and oral English is essential. Knowledge of any other languages are advantageous.
