Result of ServiceThe outcome of the consultancy, based on the work undertaken would be as follows: Global Tourism Plastics Initiative: o Reporting submissions of GTPI signatories coordinated and GTPI reporting inputs analysed; o GTPI annual progress report drafted; o Policy recommendation on circular economy of plastics in the tourism sector reviewed to align with INC process and enriched with inputs of ministries of tourism as a result of consultations organized in collaboration with UN Tourism. Agenda Integration: o Activities implemented as per decision from BC- 16/22; o Funding proposals developed for potential donors to support the implementation of joint activities. Work LocationRemote Expected duration10 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe 10 Year Framework of Programmes (10YFP), aims to support global, regional and national initiatives on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP.) UNEP serves as the Secretariat, working with Member States and other stakeholders engaged in the One Planet network (oneplanetnetwork.org) which supports the implementation of the 10YFP. The selected consultant will support the \"Agenda Integration\" and \"Tourism\" workstreams in the 10YFP Secretariat. For Tourism : -Support data collection and analysis within the framework of the GTPI reporting and drafting of the annual report -Provision of individual support to the GTPI signatories with reporting process and use and implementation of the GTPI measurement guidance and tools; -Analysis of the reporting data (including data verification) that was collected in course of the reporting period; -Development of a template for the GTPI annual report; the report will be presenting aggregated and analysed data collected from different stakeholder groups of the GTPI signatories (accommodation, cruise lines, tour operators, supporting organizations, suppliers and destinations) as well as highlights of results of some individual companies; -Development in a consultative manner with GTPI team of the draft GTPI progress report. -Support consultations of ministries of tourism on policies related to circular economy of plastics and review of policy guidance draft -Review of national policies on circular economy of plastics and of tourism policies tackling the issue of plastic pollution; consultation of tourism industry experts on circular economy of plastics, of policy makers and policy experts in the area of circularity (bilateral interviews and collective consultations) in order to identify best practices and recommendations around integration of circular solutions in tourism policies; -Review of the draft briefing paper on recommendations around integration of circular solutions to tackle plastic pollution in tourism policies -Organize consultations of ministries of tourism (in collaboration with UN tourism) and integrate inputs of ministries of tourism in the new draft of the briefing paper. For Agenda Integration : -Monitor the developments of ongoing decisions and working groups in relation to the Conventions on chemicals and waste and biodiversity; -Document and communicate on ongoing developments as relevant, support targeted engagement with the Secretariats and the Parties, and relevant initiatives within UNEP, review documents. -Conduct research, assess opportunities and formulate strategic insights and recommendations for Parties. This includes how to support the implementation of the Conventions and how the Conventions can strengthen the work and objectives of the One Planet network. -Support consultations MEA Secretariats and national MEA focal points, 10YFP focal points, One Planet Network Programmes and relevant stakeholders in the UN system in relation to relevant joint activities. -Draft conceptual proposals based on the aforementioned consultations that can be shared with prospective donors. -Facilitate liaison to implement the areas of joint work as agreed. -Facilitate the implementation and reporting on activities, making the necessary connections, setting up the relevant discussions, providing technical inputs. -Draft communication materials as relevant. Qualifications/special skillsAdvanced university degree in one of the following areas: business administration, international relations, environmental engineering or management with a focus on sustainable development or environmental policy; Three years relevant experience with at least 1 year at the international level Good technical understanding of sound business sustainability practices and policies - namely in tourism, food and plastics in the context of sustainable consumption and production. Project management, planning and organization skills. Knowledge of the UN system is an advantage. Excellent communication skills, including good written command in English ability to craft and deliver messages in an articulate manner. LanguagesExcellent command of English (written and oral) is required. Knowledge of additional UN official languages, especially French would be an asset. Additional InformationNot available.
