JOB PURPOSE

To contribute to upholding Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) rights of all the people, particularly the poor and vulnerable in South Asia Region (SAR) by ensuring access to quality SRH services, with focus on Abortion. To ensure successful and timely implementation of all project activities related to improving access to SRH and abortion services, across SAR.

KEY TASKS

  1. To be responsible for strategizing and achieving expected results, as set out in project/s where Comprehensive Abortion Care is a key component, through effective programming and operationalising IPPF’s Abortion Strategic Action Plan (ASAP).

  2. To contribute to IPPF’s evolving agenda on Abortion related policies, procedures and practices and implement the same in SAR.

  3. To plan, implement and monitor project activities in SAR office that will involve:

· Working closely with Organisational Learning & Evaluation (OLE) team.

· Providing technical support to MAs related on SRH and Abortion related projects,

· Organising meetings/ workshop/ conferences relating to projects implemented in the region

· Prepare timely reports (as per requirement of the global/regional project team) related to restricted project/s and provide updates from all MAs to the IPPF South Asia Regional Office (SARO), IPPF Central Office (CO) and the donor.

  1. To support the Programmes team in developing and disseminating guidelines, policies, standards, and technical tools to contribute to speedy and successful project delivery in the area of SRH services, including improvement in Quality of Care (QoC) among MA clinics.

  2. To develop concept notes and proposals for securing funding for work on issues related to SRH services delivery, including abortion.

  3. To represent IPPF in coalitions, conferences and events on abortion service delivery.

  4. To be the knowledge resource on discourse in the current field of quality abortion services.

  5. To work in collaboration with and support all (including Sr./Technical advisors, Dy./ Directors, etc.) in planning and implementation of the funded project initiatives identified in the Regional Implementation Plans of the SAR.

  6. To build and maintain positive working relationships with all members of staff and contacts both within and outside the Federation.

  7. To uphold the values, ethics and culture of the organization and be an ambassador of the organization.

  1. To undertake any other reasonable duties as may be requested from time to time.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

Post-graduate degree or equivalent in the relevant field (including medicine, social science, public health, international development or equivalent).

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Advanced experience in the areas of designing, managing, implementing and monitoring of national/regional SRH programmes, with specific focus on abortion in developing countries.
  • Experience of managing multi-site projects and working with multiple partners with strong financial management skills and experience in budget tracking and management.
