KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Social Cohesion Specialist will lead on the capacity building of communities for the implementation of initiatives tailored to the context of the implementation locations and support the identification of participants for the 3 different components of the project (community initiatives, business grants and vocational training). Responsibilities will include:

  • In coordination with the Communications Officer, MEAL Officer and Project Manager, collaborate closely with UNDP and local peace committees in the project locations to develop a community outreach strategy and tools, for the purposes of identifying 2,600 potential beneficiaries.

  • Conduct participatory and inclusive community-based initiatives identification and prioritization in each of the four locations to identify the most feasible ideas for community initiatives that can be applied within a 20-day duration.

  • Creating and/or tailoring of the training curriculum for a 3-day work readiness workshop and a 2-day awareness and knowledge raising workshop for 1,800 beneficiaries.

  • Train and oversee a team of 8 Vocational Trainers that will deliver the above mentioned workshops in 4 different locations and support community initiatives.

  • Travel between project implementation locations in Anbar (Qaim & Habaniyah), Salah al Din (Tooz Khormato) and Ninewa (Muhalabiyah) ensuring smooth delivery of training.

  • Cover any gaps in the delivery of workshops and / or the implementation of community initiatives.

  • Provide follow up and reporting on progress.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • University educated in a relevant field, preferably social work, education, vocational training or other related field.

  • Minimum 3 years experience in training development and facilitation.

  • Proven experience in implementing projects related to skills development / vocational training.

  • Fluency in both English and Arabic.

  • Right to live and work in Iraq, with the ability to travel within and outside KRI region.

  • Willing to start work immediately.
