The Bank for International Settlements, BIS is looking for a Senior Security Specialist to join our Security Engineering and Architecture team within Cybersecurity.

This role is based in Basel, however, thanks to our status as an international organization, we can hire globally and welcome applications from candidates of all nationalities and located anywhere in the world. Relocation support is available for the successful candidate and their dependent family members.

Purpose of the role:

Our mission is to support central banks' pursuit of monetary and financial stability through international partnership and to act as a bank for central banks.

In the role of Senior Security Specialist, you will manage, support, and enhance cyber security tooling. You will ensure security-by-design in major projects and the Bank’s strategic initiatives, and provide security advice in alignment with standards, policies and agreed architectures.

  • You will work with many market-leading security technologies (including SIEM, EDR, vulnerability and compliance management tools, key management infrastructure, identity governance and administration, network IDS, etc.).

    Principal accountabilities:

    • Undertake engineering activities in support of the Bank’s security objectives, including:
      • As required, manage the lifecycle of the Bank’s security solutions (replacement, retirement, upgrade, etc.).
      • Providing general maintenance and enhancements (e.g., patching, continuous improvement, automation, additional integrations, etc.) of the Bank’s security solutions.
      • Acting in an on-call capacity to support the Bank’s security solutions.
      • Provide expert advice to Corporate Security and the wider Bank on security architecture and security engineering topics.

        Qualifications, skills, and experience:

        • University degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent industry experience.
        • Certifications in relevant disciplines (product specific, general ICT, or security) would be an advantage. Good platform knowledge and experience (ideally both Windows and Linux) and product support experience (troubleshooting, integration, breakfix, etc.).
          • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and Red Hat Openshift Container Platform would be an advantage.
          • Ability to automate using scripting. Skills in PowerShell and/or another major programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) are strong assets.
          • Demonstrated knowledge of key contemporary cyber security topics.
          • Demonstrated experience in deploying and maintaining production ICT systems with a high standard of security and availability.
          • Experience in an enterprise environment with deploying and maintaining tools and systems.
          • Committed to continuous education and technical learning.
          • Strong analytical and documentation skills.
          • Team player but technically autonomous.
          • Fluency in English.
