UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is offering a contract within the Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) Services in our Office in The Hague, The Netherlands.

Established in December 1950, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is mandated to lead and co-ordinate international action to protect and assist refugees, forcibly displaced communities and stateless people. UNHCR works in over 130 countries to protect and care for over 80 million people.

UNHCR has traditionally been funded by voluntary contributions from Member States. Due to the enormous increase in the number of refugees, fundraising in the private sector has become increasingly important. For the coming years, UNHCR has the ambition to generate $1 Billion annually in private donations through its Private Sector Partnership (PSP) Unit. This position will sit within the Individual Giving (IG) team in the Netherlands, which aims to raise funds from individuals in the Netherlands to support UNHCR’s work. Due to the expansion of the IG programme in the Netherlands and the need to deliver high quality donor care, as well as streamlined support on our administration process, the Dutch PSP operation is looking for a reliable and stable Donor Care and Admin support.

The Snr PSP Assistant will work under the supervision of the Associate PSP IG Officer and in close collaboration with the IG fundraising colleagues to support the execution of the IG fundraising strategy in the Netherlands. S/he will assist in administering high quality donor care to donors, will be responsible for accurate income recording and processing and any other administration related duties in support of the PSP fundraising team.

Purpose and Scope of Assignment:

Under the overall supervision of the Associate PSP IG Officer the main tasks of the Snr PSP Assistant (Donor Care & Admin) will be to:

• Support the execution of the IG fundraising strategy in the Netherlands focusing on donor care;
• Effectively respond to enquiries, requests for information and complaints from donors and supporters received via the appropriate channel (primarily email, and also phone & social);
• Liaise with relevant PSP suppliers with regards to outsourced elements of donor care;
• Execute data entry tasks, process donations and data mutations, take on activities to increase data quality and update the database (Salesforce);
• Ensure positive and negative supporter feedback is shared across UNHCR NL, providing insight for fundraising and communication activities that promotes a supporter focused organization;
• Manage the monthly income recording, bank reconciliations and earmarking reports;
• Where appropriate, prepare/dispatch acknowledgement/thank you letter to the donor;
• Perform admin duties as required for the PSP Officer and both the IG (Individual Giving) and PPH (Private Partnerships and Philanthropy) team with a main focus on organizational tasks such as filing various documents, maintain databases and keeping track of ongoing organizational processes;
• Perform other miscellaneous administrative tasks such as note taking, creating and maintaining office documentation, etc.

Essential minimum qualifications and professional experience required:

a. Education

• Completed secondary education with preferably a degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field.

b. Work Experience

• Minimum 2 years of previous working experience relevant to the function or minimum 1 year of relevant working experience with a Bachelor’s or higher degree;
• Experience of supporting individual giving fundraising programmes in the Netherlands is an asset;
• Working knowledge of customer relations management systems, preferably experience in entering data into Salesforce is an asset.

c. Key Competencies

• Knowledge of the fundraising environment in the Netherlands;
• Knowledge of UNHCR programme’s and activities would be an asset;
• Excellent customer service;
• Accurate and precise;
• A flexible and outgoing team player with service oriented attitudes;
• Good understanding of social media and web technologies;
• Excellent computer skills with Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and preferably email and CRM systems;
• Excellent knowledge of English and Dutch is mandatory (written, oral, comprehension).

Location:

The successful candidate will be based with the team in UNHCR’s office in The Hague, Netherlands.

Conditions:

The position is associated with a yearly contract, valid until end of the year, with possibility of renewal. It is a full-time role with working hours starting from 9 AM to 6 PM, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week).
Part-time working arrangement (minimum 80%) is possible, upon further agreement with the selected candidate.
The salary is in line with the local UN GS Salary scale.

Short-listed candidates will be invited to an eliminatory written test to verify their technical competencies related to the role and their writing skills as well. The test will be in Dutch and/or English. Candidates, who passed the written test, will be invited to an interview as well. The interview will be in English and part of it can be in Dutch as well.
