Scientific Officer ? Chickpea Breeding

ICRISAT seeks applications from dynamic Indian nationals for Scientific Officer position in Chickpea Breeding. The position is responsible to supervise and execute Chickpea Breeding operations, data recording and management in the field and greenhouse. The incumbent will report to the Principal Scientist, Chickpea Breeding, Research Program Accelerated Crop Improvement at ICRISAT Patancheru. This position is based at ICRISAT Headquarters, Patancheru, Telangana, India.

Responsibilities:

Supervises and executes chickpea breeding-related tasks including field and greenhouse operations, seed processing and seed inventory as directed by the supervisor

Executes basic field/greenhouse operations by following the SOPs

Executes single selfings, crossings, harvests, and data recording and management

Receives instructions related to crop improvement tasks delegated by supervisor, and supervises activities of the Field Attendant(s)

Responds to schedules of operations and situation-specific demands that impact the execution of tasks

Executes crop operations as per schedules and specific tasks entrusted by the Team Coordinator

Completes tasks consistently and safely through varying situations and factors

Requirement:

Masters in Life Sciences

At least one year of experience in agricultural operations involving handling of breeding materials

Valid driver?s License and good communication skills

General:

This is a contractual role for a period of 36 months (3 years).
