Job Summary:

The regional GHSA SBC Advisor will lead the regional OH/ZDs focused SBC/RCCE activities, ZDs RCCE TF coordination, the development and implementation of Zoonotic Diseases SBC/RCCE plans, approaches, activities, tools and materials with oversight from the GHSA SBC Advisor. The person will provide technical assistance and guidance during the development and implementation of regional- and lower-level activities, to include capacity strengthening activities with partners, local government, and CSOs.

Accountabilities:

  • With oversight from the USAID Healthy Behaviors Activity regional hub technical lead, lead the development and implementation of GHSA and COVID-19 -focused SBC/RCCE plans, approaches, activities, tools, and materials.
  • Provide SBC/RCCE technical assistance and guidance during the development and implementation of regional and sub-regional SBC plans focused on GHSA, COVID-19 and DEI needs and priorities, which will include capacity strengthening activities with partners, local government, and CSOs.
  • Provide leadership to risk communication and community engagement (RCCE) activities, as needed to address emerging infectious diseases and outbreaks, including working closely with regional Government of Ethiopia and other GHSA and COVID-19 stakeholders to support and participate in coordination structures (One Health/Zoonotic Diseases TWG, Task Forces and Steering Committees).
  • Provide technical support and leadership to COVID-19 Vaccine and service integration and demand promotion activities in the region and sub regional level.
  • Work closely with the LME team to ensure SBC/RCCE monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning activities are of high quality and appropriately reflect standard GHSA and COVID-19 -SBC measures and indicators.
  • Coordinate and conduct integrated supportive supervision and onsite trainings to sub – regional OH/ZDs focal, community workers and other implementing partners/stakeholders.
  • Generate new ideas and innovations in our approaches and thinking in relation to SBC for EID, drawing on existing evidence and best practices.
  • Foster a strong working relationship with the Regional Government of Ethiopia to secure their technical input and support for the project’s strategies and plans.
  • Work closely with other GHSA and COVID-19 stakeholders and programs, particularly other USAID implementing partners, to ensure they are effectively involved in the development and implementation of all GHSA/EID-related strategies, plans, activities, tools, and materials, and to maximize coordination between USAID Healthy Behaviors and other USG-funded GHSA activities.
  • Facilitate and lead regional, woreda and community level SBC/RCCE and COVID-19 vaccine integration capacity building activities.
  • Collaborate with government and USG implementing partners to identify and ensure that priority GHSA SBC needs are being addressed by the project.
  • Coordinate and lead regional, sub-regional and community level rumor, disinformation, and misinformation tracking, reporting, and management systems strengthening activities in collaboration with regional public health institutes, zoonotic diseases TWG or RCCE Taskforce, tollfree lines and health systems.
  • Work closely with the project’s core partners to strengthen their capacity in RCCE and ensure high quality project delivery.
  • Works closely and in integrated manners with regional USAID Healthy Behaviors Activity teams (GHSA coordinator, SBC specialist, and others).
  • Contribute to the development of project deliverables, including workplans, quarterly and annual reports, and success stories of the regional and community levels.
