UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is offering a contract within the Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) Services in our Office in Paris, France.

The position is part of UNHCR’s Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) Unit, which plays a crucial role in helping expand the organization’s funding base, while ensuring a sustainable and predictable stream of income. PSP as part of Division of External Relations (DER) is administratively divided in regions.
In support of Individual Giving (IG) programs in France, PSP is looking for a Fundraising Assistant to manage day to day donor services and communication and to support IG and Digital operations - acquisition and retention.

The Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) Services works in different regions: Europe, MENA, Americas, Africa, and Asia, and further decentralizes at local levels. The Fundraising Assistant is part of the PSP France team and is based in the UNHCR Office located in Paris in France.

Purpose and Scope of Assignment:

We are seeking a dynamic and proactive team player, who is able to work independently as well, with a strong interest in fundraising, to become a steady and reliable asset to the UNHCR France operation within PSP Europe.

The Fundraising Assistant's primary responsibility will be to deliver excellent donor support and develop high quality donor stewardship (via telephone, mail, and email) aiming to engage UNHCR France & Monaco supporters and grow our revenue and supporters’ base.

He/she will also support IG/Digital team on the operational matters and support with database maintenance, reporting and analysis.
Under the supervision of the PSP Individual Giving Associate, the PSP Fundraising Assistant will perform the following responsibilities:

Donor relationship and stewardship

• Support managing day to day Donor Care Mailbox by responding to donors' and supporters' correspondence with constant guidance from PSP team;
• Identify high value donors or supporters and strategic opportunities for PSP France;
• Undertaking/assisting routine communication with supporters, including e-mails, thank you letters, tax receipts, responding to enquiries etc.;
• Process offline donations (such as via cheque or phone) and update the database;
• Support in daily communication with donors and supporters, as well as follow-up and monitoring of reactivation and retention programs;
• Convince and argue donors who call the donor care to cancel their donation;
• Liaise with PSP team to develop and update answers to frequently asked questions, also questions faced by frontliner/caller teams, and ensure they are updated with communication lines;
• Create, update and manage reporting and analysis tools to improve donor retention and loyalties;

Administration

• Support the IG team on invoicing follow up and global PSP France spends tracker;
• Bank reconciliation support;
• Earmarking monthly reconciliation support and transmission to HQ;

Administration/maintenance of database

• Ensure effective data management processes are in force to maintain the integrity of data;
• Develop and implement strategies to clean data to improve contact rates by mail, email, phone and SMS;
• Update supporters’ details on a regular basis – this includes making changes to addressees/salutations, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, etc.;
• Responsible for importing data into Salesforce from other lists/sources/IG suppliers (including data captured in Excel spread sheets);
• Report Salesforce or other platforms (iRaiser…) troubleshooting to CRM and Digital Manager;
• Identifying areas for improvement in business processes, data structure or data integrity;
• Working with our other functions, to ensure we are compliant to data protection rules and to regularly review and monitor this;

Support fundraising programs

• Follow-up on requests from suppliers for donors related questions and respond to all inquiries about the program and operations, in close collaboration with PSP team and supervisor;
• Perform other duties as required.

Essential minimum qualifications and professional experience required:

• Completion of secondary education (high school diploma) preferably with UNESCO accredited university degree (considered as an asset) in business, marketing, communication or a related field;
• Minimum 1 year of previous working experience relevant to the function with secondary education;
• Experience in nonprofit, ideally in donor care or/and communication/digital;
• Proactive communication mindset (orally and in writing) with donors;
• Good writing skills;
• Very strong organizational and communication skills;
• Highly developed problem solving and analytical skills;
• Knowledge and experience with digital fundraising, database management and analytical tools;
• Knowledge of UN (specifically UNHCR) procedures would be an advantage;
• An outgoing personality and a team player with service-oriented attitudes;
• Highly motivated, with an ability to complete tasks, with strong attention to details;
• Excellent knowledge of French (written/oral/comprehension);
• Working knowledge of English (written/oral/comprehension).

Location:

The successful candidate will be based with the team in UNHCR’s office in Paris, France. Depending on the actual status of the COVID-19 pandemic, the working method might be either teleworking, working from the office or the combination of the two.

Conditions:

The position is associated with a yearly contract, valid until end of the year, with possibility of renewal. It is a full-time role with working hours starting from 9 AM to 6 PM, Monday to Friday (40 hours per week).
The salary is in line with the local UN GS Salary scale.
